So why does she think she was laid off if it wasn't her performance and (lack of) achievements, surely if she was bringing in more money than she was taking they'd have kept her.

I've been rewatching old Retsupuraes lately and Diabetus really was the star, much better than Slowbeef. Slowbeef was always the one who pre-screened the videos they'd watch and you can tell when he's anticipating something, like when you watch a movie with a friend who's already seen it and he annoyingly wants to make sure you're paying attention when the parts he likes come up. And even with these recent tweets you can tell Diabetus still kept some sense of humor over the years.

My favorite guest was definitely @proteus4994 by far. I watch the videos he's on and his commentary and sense of humor has held up really well, which probably has something to do with how sanitized everything on Youtube has become and his commentary is all from the era when you could call people faggots and nobody cared.

This reminded me how this was used to comedic effect in the Arise videos, particularly this one.

Well slowbeef (along with many SA goons) always had a flavor of the month joke or couple phrases or word plays theyd reuse to death. Cause chip was the one who screened for his stuff and he was still the funnier one by far.

A whole lot of the LPers that I'm aware of that originated from SA have all fallen down the 'Its ironic, bro!' pipeline and just straight into what they previously mocked. Geop now does the Vtuber schtick while joking about weird Zillow listings which is simultaneously lower effort than his previous work but a touch more entertaining. Of course its rarely just Geop doing these things and someone joins in with their own goofy avatar. Frequently with someone using Neco-arc because its a favorite 'just a joke, lol' anime avatar choice.

I was just watched the Sonic '06 Retsu and this part always rubbed me the wrong way. It would have been nice to see Diabetus' reaction to the Test of Love but slowbeef just has to spoil it for him.



I just noticed while watching recently: is it me or is Diabetus pretty observant? I never noticed before just how much he picks up on little things slowbeef missed. This isn't a point against slowbeef but in Diabetus' favor.

I don't think Retsu would have ever been as big as it was if Slowbeef put anyone else in Diabetus's seat, he was a curious mix of a guy that was perceptive but also didn't give a fuck.

I remember reading a comment once that said they didn't like their style of humor because it was "pre-irony", I'm no comedy expert but if we are in the post-irony era then it would explain a lot.
