23 baltimore schools have zero students good at math. - you'd think at least a handful of them would be good at math, jesus fuck

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Baltimore is facing a devastating reality as the latest round of state test scores are released.

23 Baltimore schools have zero students proficient in math, state test results reveal (WBFF

WBFF analyzed the results and found a shocking number of Baltimore City schools where not a single student is doing math at grade level.
“We're not living up to our potential,” said Jovani Patterson, a Baltimore resident who made headlines in Jan. 2022, when he filed a lawsuit against Baltimore City Schools. The suit claims the district is failing to educate students and, in the process, misusing taxpayer funds.

“We, the taxpayer, are funding our own demise,” Patterson said at the time.

Patterson was born in Baltimore. He's seen the failures firsthand, but when WBFF showed him the latest test results for the city, he was momentarily rendered speechless.

“My immediate reaction is, take your kids out of these schools,” said Patterson.

The Maryland State Department of Education recently released the 2022 state test results known as MCAP, Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program.

Baltimore City’s math scores were the lowest in the state. Just 7% of third through eighth graders tested proficient in math, which means 93% could not do math at grade level.

But that’s not all. WBFF combed through the scores at all 150 City Schools where the state math test was given. In 23 Baltimore City schools, there were zero students who tested proficient in math.

It just sounds like these schools, now, have turned into essentially babysitters with no accountability,” said Patterson. “This is the future of our city. We’ve got to change this.”
Among the list of 23 schools, there are 10 high schools, eight elementary schools, three middle/high schools and two elementary/middle schools.

Exactly 2,000 students, in total, took the state math test at these schools. Not one could do math at grade level.

“These kids can't do math. You're not preparing them to buy groceries. You're not preparing them to do accounting, to count their own money. You're not preparing them to read contracts and negotiate salaries,” said Patterson.

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore delivered his first State of the State address last week.

“We made the largest investment in public education by any governor in our state’s history,” Moore said during his speech, making his feelings about public education clear. It’s one of his top priorities.

“We can no longer separate our vision for economic prosperity from the duty to make Maryland’s public schools the best in the nation,” Moore said.

After the State of the State address, WBFF reached out to Moore’s office, asking to speak with him about his plan to improve education. Before becoming governor, Moore lived in Baltimore. WBFF wanted to ask him how he plans to help city students, especially those who attend the 23 schools.

Moore’s office did not respond, but City Schools did send WBFF a statement with steps it’s taking to improve math scores, including professional development for teachers, summer learning and an extended learning period at the end of the day.

The statement said, in part, “We're confident these instructional strategies will help us regain the momentum and progress we experienced before the pandemic.”

Zero percent. What are you preparing these kids for?” said Patterson. “Are we expecting these kids to kill off themselves? I mean, we see the number of teen shootings happening just this year. What jobs are we preparing these kids for? That's the future.”
WBFF found three additional schools where zero students tested proficient in math, which we did not include in the list of 23. One of those schools is for incarcerated youth, and the other two are for students with disabilities. It’s also important to note that another 20 Baltimore City Schools had just one or two students test proficient in math.

It's all by design. We're going back to the serfdom days.
Said it before. They don't want people who will sit down and look at the problem, they want people just smart enough to over-react and charge forward without thinking. Bullet Sponges for future wars. Leave the thinking for the children of the elites who won't have to join the military for health care.
To really drive home this insanity, we(because god know show many federal dollars these parasites get) spend $21,000 per year supposedly educating these "students";

View attachment 4479433
Now calculate how much of that spending actually makes it to the students and not the administration.

Fun Fact: NYC has a hilarious corruption problem when it comes to spending. 28K per student, yet at the same time, schools are drastically underfunded.
The money never makes it to the public schools and they never preform audits until billions go missing. For example : Private Yeshiva schools are churning out men who can't read or write at a 3rd grade level. Yet, they're funded with public money and nobody ever takes that into account when they go on a rant about NYC school spending. Those schools get 2 billion dollars a year in funding from the state. Meanwhile, a public high school will only get a budget of 100 thousand for the year.

Edit: the Ramapho incident.
-
26,500 children in private schools.
9,000 children in public schools.
The private school gets 30 million of the tax payers money since "special education" ie retards , get government coverage. The public elementary school only got 4 million.
The private school brought down the average test score across the area, but the blame for "mis funding" goes to the public school with only 9000 students.
Nobody gave a fuck about the private schools, but when it came time to crunch numbers, they looked only at the public school.

When Navnoor Kang and the rest were arrested for embezzlement ( seriously, these retards had lavish administrator holiday parties with coke and whores ) they never recovered the funding. This is a state that earmarks billions for the MTA but some how manages to more than they accounted for. If they lose 5 million from fair beaters, how the fuck did they lose 500 million?
Oh and let me point out something, there's no difference in Red/Blue in New York. It's all a huge party that the voters are not invited to. It was corrupt when republicans were running things, it's still corrupt when the democrats are running things.- the only thing that's changed is who's sitting in the mayor's seat and the mayor doesn't do shit anyway. NYC is only a small fraction of the state but to people outside of it, it's the entire state.

Just look up Kiryas Joel if you ever feel the need to complain about parasites.

Baltimore is further along in the races than other major cities, but it’s hardly an outlier. In basically every major US city, the children of parents who give a shit attend private, parochial, charter, or magnet schools. The public schools are stuck with the rest, and no matter what anyone tells you, schools cannot solve the social problems caused by broken homes and parental neglect.

Article has a contradiction:
So one of those statements is wrong, but both fucked up either way.
7% of kids citywide tested proficient in math.

23 schools didn’t have a single proficient math student. 2,000 students in total took the test at those schools.

Are you a BPS alum?

isn't that just straight up fraud
in my state, the school gets paid per student per day, thats why you got in big trouble if you skipped too many times.
having literally ghost students is fraud.
This is a decades old problem, hell it was even covered in The Wire, in the show a former convict gets out of prison and bounces jobs, gets one from a local school just rounding up truant kids. The kids know how the scam works and volunteer to be picked up once a month by the truancy team which allows the school to get paid for the student existing on the rolls. This leaves the former convict tilted because "kids belong in school."

They don't know how to read.

They don't know how to write.

They don't know how to do math.

But they know how to blame white people.

Why it is pointless to put more money into education until the society heals itself and wants to be better. For whatever reason, what is so natural to most white and asian races is co black people.

Apparently. I read that like several times yesterday to figure out what I was missing. I guess I kept glossing over the total number of schools and the versus the of failed schools number for whatever retarded reason. I went back and read it again and don't even know what my issue was lmao. Weird. Anyway, yes I am retarded.

Let me guess:
  1. Standardized tests are racist.
  2. It's wrong to "teach to the test," that takes away from more important topics.
  3. Need more money.
  4. It's the state's fault because they aren't involved enough or are too controlling.
  5. Kids can't learn because racist cops put their fathers in jail for victimless drug crimes.
  6. The counties are conspiring against the city, somehow.
  7. Fox made it up. (Lefty Baltimoreans hate the local Fox affiliate.)
  8. I don't know, food insecurity?
There’s only one solution. They need to hire an overqualified balding Bolivian calculus teacher who will finally figure out how to reach these keedz.
This is Baltimore. They need to hire a spergy ex-cop with a history of NDs and cold-cocking people.

“My immediate reaction is, take your kids out of these schools,” said Patterson.
And what? These people can't afford private schools, and you can't exactly go to the schoolboard and demand your kid be bussed to the good school because your zoned schools suck. Go ahead, try it.

It's unconscionable that school choice is not a given in our country, but it's also telling. The fact that the money doesn't follow the student and if you pull your kids and homeschool or private school them you still are required by law to pay into the public school system is all you need to know that the government really doesn't give a shit, they just want to have control over your kids. Public school is just government-run indoctrination, it's not that the school boards have good intentions and are unaware that they're making kids dumber with retarded common core garbage and leftist teachings, it's purposeful from the top down to create a more compliant and stratified populous.

I gotta admit there is a certain anti-intellectual streak in our society but some subcultures take it to a crazy high level.

On the other hand, the American public school system is a joke and is little else other than a holding pen designed to emasculate its victims and leave them with no actual life skills or accomplishments. Are there good schools that actually give a fuck about anything? I'm sure they exist but they seem rare now.

No Child Left Behind and Common Core have worked perfectly. Welcome to the math optional future with no human cashiers, accountants, or any other position that require accuracy in mathematical calculations, unless they're early Millennials or older.
Just as how Marxist economics leave everyone equally poor and miserable, Marxist education leaves everyone equally stupid and ignorant.

I think Jovani has high spirits, but at this point he’s just saying stuff. He knows that Baltimore is fucked beyond repair. And he’s just wallowing in despair over it.

Well yeah, the test should be based on whats teached and not the other way around.

thats because nigger cant read or do math....
Nobody hates on STEM nerds if they arent boring chess kids. The trick is to make something fun, bullies like fire and explosions, so building a massiv backyard rocket will fascinate them.

So... along with Cursive, there are unironically kids nowadays who can't even do fractions as well as basic arithmetic? This can only end well.

Of course. Can't figure out you're being scammed if you don't even know how to calculate.

Or grew up in a state that doesn't enforce backwards policies like that. So expect the Asiatic countries to unironically teabag the Western devils over mathematics in the coming years.

Also, Math is a foundational practice. You can't really be effective at other fields that require it. Which is a good chunk of technical jobs. So expect those to take a hit too.
This is a good reason and motivation to start learning Mandarin Chinese or Japanese if you are in the any STEM field and haven't already. Lord knows I have already bought enough Japanese grammar books and dictionaries.

I wonder what the tech industry is going to look like in 25 years. It's just going to be all Indian dudes, isn't it? All Indian, all day. Maybe instead of Chinese, you should start learning Hindu and how to shit into the street.

Cannot tell if this is a serious response, and the "teached" does not clarify things. Please give me a puzzle piece if I am being more autistic than usual.

In every other endeavor that includes a test, the student is taught or trained to succeed at the test. The subject matter is defined first, then a test is designed to measure the student's mastery of that subject, and finally a curriculum is designed to prepare the student for the test. When a school doesn't prepare a student for a test, those who can will pay extra for test prep because they know the test is what determines their success. I don't know why primary and secondary school teachers think their classrooms are different, that they are not responsible for preparing their students to meet the minimal educational standards set by their employers. In cities like Baltimore I get it, those are lost causes, but that attitude can be found in better schools, too.

If standardized testing were based on what was taught, it would just be four hours of filling in bubbles about the Holocaust and racism, would it not?
