Most everyone talking about shit online don't know their history either. Turns out those modern ruskies have a deep connection to Kiev and much of Ukraine. Something about those "Kievan Russ" people from a long time ago. Rather than destroy them, they sold them back to Russia, and also sold them to Iran and China to give them cruise weapon capability. So, if they're getting hit with Kh-101s, it's their greed coming back to bite them in the ass.

The irony of him doing this for politics is that he's almost certainly going to come up in the "what not to do" portions of military history lessons for years to come because of this.

Due to the re-use of the main powerplant/engine, the Kh-101 is essentially a reskinned, improved Kh-55. Until 2014 when Russia established it's own domestically produced engine alternative, the Kh-101 (and Kalibur) were using the same Ukranian produced engine that was on the Kh-55:

Also, the Ukies themselves claimed that the internals on the Kh-101s are identical or heavily borrowed from the Kh-55. It could just be Ukie "Russian equipment old and bad!" propaganda, but then by their own admission they're being hit with older production Kh-101 cruise missiles that were built from Kh-55 engines and guidance parts which they sold to Russia.

Given that the internals are still military secrets it's hard to know for sure, but I've generally seen the belief that Kh-101s are essentially Kh-55s internally, with upgraded guidance/sensors and a stealthier exterior, fwiw

Well, for most of Ukraines modern history it was absolutely infested with russian influence. Also, they ( naively ) thought Russia wouldnt invade them. Its not greed, its a naive belief that Russia wouldnt breach all the treaties and invade them, this was not only the Ukrainian opinion, most western nations didnt think this would happen.

They bartered/sold of their weapons as they had no interest in military conflict, only to improve their nation. Sadly, Ukraine inherited huge corruption from Soviet times so this money probably didnt do anything good
