I mean, if J.K. Rowling came out tomorrow and said, "You know what, ladies, I was wrong, trans women are women. I am sorry I have sinned against you, how could I have ever been so blind?", do you think for one second these people would forgive her? Or even believe her?
Because I don't. Not for a fucking second.
Nah, they wouldn't. They've fully integrated the "scorched earth" mentality pioneered by the SJWs a decade ago.
It reminds me of that blue-collar worker (who had no online presence because he was too busy working to provide for his family to bother with the internet) who encountered two teenaged nogs who decided to taunt him and fuck with him as he walked home from work, and he finally called them niggers to shut them up and make them leave him alone. Naturally, they recorded the encounter and the clip went viral.
The online mob engaged immediately, doxed him, pressured his employer (successfully) to fire him, harassed the company (even
after they fired him, the mob still rode their asses demanding internal documents about their hiring policies, etc.), and threatened his family.
They also did their best to render him totally unemployable, but ultimately failed because this happened in a small-ish midwestern town (that I suspect barely tolerated blacks to begin with). As far as I know, another local company quietly hired him (he was a skilled tradesman) and the whole thing petered out once his former employer finally told the mob to fuck off after they got sick of their endless demands.
I had the chance to ask a few of the mob drones some pointed questions. The answers were very enlightening. What act of contrition -- if any -- could this man perform to earn forgiveness (or at least a ceasefire) from the mob? What kind of punishment (and how much of it) was appropriate for his transgression? Is it enough to fire him? Must he be rendered permanently unemployable, essentially condemning him to homelessness, the loss of his wife and children, and ultimately an untimely death?
What about his wife? "Well, she married a racist, so she deserves to suffer too!" The most eye-opening answers came when I asked "and his children?" "They're born from racist parents, so they don't deserve pity either, fuck 'em!" Then I followed up "and the business who hired him, then fired him when this happened?" "They hired a racist, so those bigots deserve to go under!" "And the hundreds of employees and *their* families?" "Well maybe that whole town needs to learn how to be decent human beings."
They became increasingly angry as they realized where things were going -- that because of a single utterance of the word "nigger," they were openly screaming for the total destruction (up to and including death) of not only one man, his wife and their children, but also of at least one major manufacturing business in a town whose economy would suffer greatly without it along with the hundreds of employees and
their families who would be impacted directly and indirectly. Literally punishing thousands of people for the transgressions of one.
This knock-on effect is something people like this never consider. Most never even develop their thoughts about a cancelation beyond "destroy target then select next target." When you deliberately walk them through the consequences of what they're demanding, they start getting angry as they realize what they're really rooting for and that delicious cognitive dissonance starts to wash over them. A truly-gone NPC will just get angry at you, shut down the conversation and resume the march. Anyone who's redeemable tends to have a "come to Jesus" moment as they realize "oh shit, punishing this racist as hard as possible could fuck with hundreds of families and ruin a local economy ... am I the monster here?"
Unfortunately, most people willing to support scorched earth ideology fall into the "truly-gone NPC" category. But it's still really funny to make them seethe. Doing it public (online or in person) also has the added benefit of revealing how fucking psychopathic they are to bystanders.
