If a troon dies by other means, do they count it as a suicide to inflate the numbers? When looking for troons, are they only looking for the ones who clearly don't pass? It comes from an online self-report survey that iirc was circulated around trans Twitter and Tumblr circles. It was completely anonymous and people could take it as many times as they wanted to. The question 41% responded "yes" to was if they had ever experienced suicidal thoughts or feelings - ever, in their entire lives. It didn't ask about suicide attempts or even self-harming behavior, it asked about thoughts.

So, to recap: The 41% statistic is what happens when trannies who have a vested interest in making their community look as suicidal as possible dogpile a survey and take it over and over again to misrepresent suicide stats because the survey has absolutely no safeguards against them doing just that. Which means there were so many troons who aren't suicidal saying "nope" that it actually outweighed the level best efforts of the terminally online political ones. So the actual stat of suicidal trans-identified people is probably something like 2.5%.

(Note: Subsequent studies/surveys have been done that also showed dramatically inflated numbers, but the one I'm referring to was the first and the origin. Honestly, you can't trust any survey or study on this that asks for self-report, though, because trannies have a vested political interest in portraying their community and themselves as desperately suicidal and they will lie to make it look like they are. They gain from it. The only way to accurately analyze trans suicide rates is to look at the number of trannies actually killing themselves, which is hardly any of them.)

Meh, its a mostly made up and grossly exaggerated figure that troons use to try and make themselves look terribly oppressed and leech sympathy, not realizing it just makes them look fucking deranged.
The 41% is attempted suicide, which is both an unacceptable failure rate that shows a distinct lack of commitment, and also an almost impossible statistic to verify, since many people that survive "suicide" attempts (a misnomer really, someone really intending to end their life is going to make sure they do it successfully with the odd exception of the really unlucky bastard that blows off their own face with birdshot or botches a hanging and ends up retarded or some shit) often won't even report it for fear of being forced into treatment.
Plus a lot of troon "suicide" attempts are just attention seeking faggotry of the highest ordah, where the troon takes like 8 Tylenol or something equally as pathetic.

You already got an explanation of where it comes from but I also wanted to point out that this was yet again another thing that the troons themselves used to talk about and say constantly to throw it in people's faces, then everyone started making fun of it and now it's a transphobic genocidal meme. TERFs and Nazis didn't read published research about troons and start posting 41% memes all over, they picked it up from the troons themselves just like the period fetishes, the desires to share tampons, the skirtgospinny, basically everything you see referenced on here, etc. It's easy to forget because it's felt like forever but even the Genocide thing is super recent, you can go back in the Sideshows thread and see the rare mentions of it as being seen as like these completely insane troons and a general dismissal at the notion that it will really catch on, but you can see where we are now.

Also, even if they were right, there's never been a correlation shown between suicidality and oppression. In fact prison guards in some states have higher rates of suicidality than prisoners, and nobody's going to argue that prison guards are more oppressed than prisoners. What HAS been correlated with suicidality, however, are diagnosable mental illness and drug and alcohol abuse. So even if they weren't lying about this, the real point they'd be making is that a lot of troons are mentally ill addicts. Nice self-own, troons.
