I don't understand how bragging about being very dependent on weed became cool in the younger generations in America (see also: Bex Gerber). I come from the land that unfortunately hosts Amsterdam and people don't treat weed this way here, and never have. Here it's just something that people consume, like alcohol. If you're constantly talking about doing weed and buying weed and needing weed people will treat you like an alcoholic, and tell you to get help. Even students don't talk like that about weed. I understand that there's a lot of fallout in America from people's lives being ruined over having a bit of weed in that past that I don't grasp as an outsider, but still.
"Weed culture" has always seemed - for lack of a better word - cringy to me. Name any accessory or piece of clothing and you can find a plethora of weed-related designs and prints. Pot leaf socks? Check. Pot leaf earrings? Check. Ties and jackets? Check and check. Even home decor - rugs, throw pillows, etc. - has fallen victim. For some people, smoking pot is their entire personality. Owning/wearing any of those items just tells the world "I'm boring as shit and perpetually smell like I lost a fight with a skunk."
