Pretty much where I am at on this war. Like I don't support Ukraine because of Zelinsky or Nafo I'm not even an investor I'm the arms industry (I should be though)tfw they accidentally Chernobyl'd their pipeline now the world is having an international whodunit
This.
Same sentiment for the lib-right who are "ragin against da war macheen" rather than realizing we are literally seeing a war of one side using their guns to defend their land against autocratic bugmen hordes...
I will say what few I've seen from the far-left seems to be quietly seething in support of Russia under their breath while uttering the "both sides bad becoz US imperiulizm" while the mainstream center-left circle jerks about "yaaassss slayyyy queen zelenskie!" without realizing they are basically rooting for wignat banderites
I'm supporting Ukraine because any nationalist sentiment in the country will be outright stamped out if not an outright literal white genocide would occur especially if Putin gets full control over Ukraine. Because you would see him push to have the musilim population in Europe be resettled into Ukraine in an attempt to get back at Europe and weaken it further.
I think a lot of it is due to the fact the west is becoming more totalitarian in mindset due to liberalism becoming regressive and pushing for equity above all else. I feel for the dissident right/sensible center. I think we're seeing a class of liberal elites realize that they must censor the populace to maintain control or else. There's a bit of horseshoe here, as tankies are lining up for Russia too, or at least are useful idiots. In the latter category I'd put Roger Waters, who Russia invited to speak at the UNSC to say Russia was provoked by Ukraine's existence.
But yes like many posters here I loosely identify with the "dissident right" or whatever it's called now, and it's been supremely disappointing how many of them are simping for a greedy murderous autocrat seeking to annihilate a native European culture and killing tens of thousands of its people.
So it's always refreshing when someone on the right does not fall into that vortex. That includes commentators such as Greg Johnson and politicians such as Giorgia Meloni.
I don't really follow any of these people, but my impression is that many in the alt-right see Putin as a strong, traditionalist leader defending his culture, in contrast to mealy-mouthed, effeminate democratic politicians who are selling out our civilization. And Putin is so baste coz he hates troons!
Partly it's a failure to appreciate scale. Yes, western countries have problems, but we really don't want to trade ours for Russia's. But also it's bizarre projection believing that Putin somehow cares about "western civilization" rather than his oil wealth, ego, and power. And there's a reason modern nations chose rule by bickering and checked politicians rather than unaccountable dictators.
I thought for awhile Russia could be reasoned with but the war has proven that Russia is a threat. Not as dangerous as the Chinese to western hegemony but dangerous never the less. Russia has to be dealt with but we can't take the ball of China either.I'm with you there. Russia is not our friend, nor our ally against globohomo since they're just fine with it crippling us so long as it doesn't cripple them. I mean, that's why the KGB started the whole ball rolling in the first place!
