My own personal theory is that the increasing amounts of dopamine required to make them happy leads them further into degeneracy until they reach the sorry state they're in and get their own thread on the farms.
Best case scenario they get off the internet and touch grass so they can reintegrate with reality, but more likely they feed on the negative attention and try to make the most of it to attract equally weird followers.
