Let's be honest here, Emp's only just found his place. Regardless of whether or not you like the guy, he makes fucking fantastic documentaries. I've said it before, he makes intensely interesting videos about stuff I don't give a shit about, and I usually end up going away with a respect for the subject that I didn't have before.

As for Sterling? Well, the problem is two-fold. You alienate your audience, change a lot about yourself and even getting political too? Most people would be able to look past politics, to an extent, but turning trans was only ever going to make that worse. Couple that with an algorithm that has a blacklist of words and subjects and yeah, you're gonna find your reach restricted. When you're losing subs at this kind of a rate, you really do need to consider whether it's the fact you're trans, or whether you're just kind of a cunt now.

I was never much a Sterling fan to begin with, so I haven't much of a horse in this race, and I'm genuinely not transphobic - but I'd much rather see a fat guy whine like a baby than how they look now. Their voice also really does make the tableau disconcerting and jarring, honestly.

The way you word his audience alienation makes me think his down fall is kind of like Cosmo (Narcissa) Wright even down to crying how transphobes quit following him because of his transition (However, Jim's sub bleedout is like a papercut compared to Cosmo's lost following).

Cosmo lost a fuckton of followers due to a sudden shift in content that nobody gave a shit about and cried "Twansfobes" and I think Jim's in a similar position but it's more of a slow shift gradually bleeding off subscribers than just dying like Cosmo's following.

I don't think Jim will go anywhere near the level of Cosmo's self destruction but Jim can only survive off of his current audience for a certain amount of time and if I were him I'd be worried about a constant audience bleed than "Ha, just more haters out of the way". Because maybe it's the content itself causing the bleed than just haters realizing they hate him but that's my opinion

Speaking as a former viewer of Jimbo's, I can say that it wasn't the fact that he's a fat and ugly troon that made me unsubscribe from him (though it would definitely convince me to do so if I hadn't done so before). It was the fact that he slowly drifted away from gaming news and controversies and made his content more about his far-left political axe-grinding. The straw that broke my camel's back was his Top 10 video of "Best games of X year" in which he nominated Disco Elysium as one of the best games of that year, and made a smug and condescending remark about the (lack of) "merit" of centrism.

I recently watched about 10-15 minutes of an archived version of his Hogwarts Legacy video, and all I can say that not only has nothing changed, but he's somehow gotten even more deranged and psychotic than he was before. On top of that, he made the first several minutes of his video this completely unfunny "skit" about how he thinks the world of Harry Potter is shit, which goes on for far too long before he gets to the actual meat of his video, which is, unsurprisingly, him whining about a woman who thinks biological sex is real, and how keeping men out of women's bathrooms is on-par with the Holocaust.

He can say that he "went back to the old formula" all he wants, but it's obvious to me as a former viewer that he's only gotten worse since I last saw him.

Him getting worse didn't even start with Hogwarts Legacy. It got worse as he bitched about people criticizing other people for criticizing Elden Ring's accessibility and indirectly endorsing the "casualization" of video games, despite fighting tooth and nail against microtransactions in his former life.

Oh, that. He's wrong about Souls difficulty. Difficulty should serve to enhance the experience that the developer is seeking to provide, and if the experience you want to provide is that of a world of struggle without compromise, you must build around it accordingly. I personally think Elden Ring's boss design gets a little too video-gamey at the end, a little bit too far past the sweet spot for immersion, reminding you it's a game.

On the opposite situation, a narrative game would usually not have anything going in the player's way of progress of experiencing the story. You would make it as easy as it needs to be, so the player doesn't get stuck too long.
