Also doesn't help that you seem to be (incorrectly trying to apply) Canadian law and expecting it to have any bearing in the US

Ok tommy picture this. There is a crazy hobo in your neighborhood and two families have clubhouses. One clubhouse is called the Pink Pony Kingdom and the other one is the Cuddly Kitten Empire. Both clubhouses are full of gossiping mean girls.

The crazy smelly hobo has been fighting with the Pink Pony Kingdom for years, and they were mean to smelly hobo but the Cuddly Kitten Empire doesn't even know they exist. Then Cuddly Kitten Empire hears about smelly hobo and starts gossiping. One Kitten says "we should go poke smelly hobo with sticks!" and then the Queen of the Cuddly Kitten Empire says "No! That is not the cuddly kitten way! You are banished for two weeks!" and then smelly hobo starts banging on the front door.

"STOP TALKING ABOUT ME! I'll send in detectives! I'll send in police! I'll send in EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO SEND YOU HARASSERS AND STALKERS TO JAIL! GIVE ME MONEY! I AM AN ARTIST! I KNOW YOU HAVE PINK PONIES IN THERE TOO!!! TELL YOUR PINK PONIES TO COME OUT!"

And then all the cuddly kittens throw a party and laugh at how hilarious smelly hobo is, they have barely even heard of Pink Ponies. This goes on for days until smelly hobo sees a police officer and demands that he kick in the door and arrest all the Cuddly Kittens.
The police officer takes Smelly Hobo to the police station and has him make a statement and they promise that they will finally put an end to the vicious Cuddly Kittens and their reign of terrorism and organized crime!

Then when smelly hobo leaves the police all laugh and gossip like Cuddly Kittens! They frame Smelly Hobo's police report and post it to reddit!
