That's always been one of the biggest problems of the site. The mods chosen are almost always over-sensitive dickheads who play blatant favorites and go easy on whoever is perceived as a protected group. If anything, that's one of the reasons why Troon both became a term and the definition of it from all the lonely fat male goons choosing to become trannies for the social benefits it gets them.

It's actually pretty difficult, tbh. Kiwi Farms is extremely straight forward - the rules are identical everywhere on the site. If you post in Stinkditch, A&N, Games, whatever, they may be tiny variations but the rules are identical.

Something Awful's sub forums all have their own sets of rules - some of them wildly different and that's the main issue. What forum A deems acceptable (aka saying Faggot, Retard, or Nigger in FYAD) is a literal hate crime in a different forum (like D&D or CSPAM) to a point where there's tons of legal fighting over where someone should post and how they should post. It's also a forum that covers a huge variety of topics so they can't really have a uniform set of rules (aka the rules for shitposting in a "Post a picture of a Cat thread" is different than "Race Relations in America thread").

There's also all of the wormy addendums to the rules for "special" people - aka you can say "nigger" if you are black and "cunt" if you're Aussie, only for people to try and rules lawyer/purity test those rules too.

Then there's the user - a Something Awful goon - one of the worst people on the internet. They have to be coddled like children and constantly fight like retards and if you discipline them (timeouts, bans, or permabans) they're going to just constantly cry about it on offsites, discords, or video game guilds. They will email you, they will call you, they will move heaven and earth to avenge their loss of $10 (or their 6 hour time out). Every SA discord has a #drama channel that's always bumping about how the site doesn't lean left enough or whatever the issue of the day is.

I can see why Lowtax and Jeff just throw their hands up and leave, although I have no idea why Jeff bought the site from Lowtax's corpse.

SA is not as bad as those places, but its fallen a longer way and frankly has been the site of some uniquely grotesque internet drama, even compared to here.
