All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

(Note- The title will change as we get nearer the election, previous titles will be archived in the OP)

Whereas I don't think Clinton will be a good president and I don't trust her, I think Trump will be an utter catastrophe. Like I said, this is one of the shittiest elections, IMO.

If I was more conspiracy-minded, I'd think it was almost planned this way. I would never vote for Hillary... except the thought of a Trump presidency is terrifying. I'm sure a lot of conservatives feel the exact opposite. And even then, unless something changes drastically, I'd only vote for her if it seems like my state could go either way. She's got a chance to win my vote. Hell, theoretically Trump could win my vote if he starts outlining an actual platform I can get behind, but if that happens, I'll eat my shoes.

Why are Americans so obsessed with the constitution? I have never understood that, Britain has done just fine without one and most of the Commonwealth only have skeleton constitutions
Britain literally arrests people for saying mean things on the internet. Literally everyone on this website, including you, would be arrested for "hate speech" and "harassment" if we were all based in the UK and they knew about us.

Clinton has pledged to continue the economic and foreign policies of the Obama administration. How fucking out of touch do you have to be to think those are good selling points?
"Can we stretch out this recession to 12 years? Yes We Can!"

Although I previously said I would vote for Stein in the general election, Hillary might be able to win me over with a good VP pick.
Don't do it! Any VP pic will be purely symbolic because the Vice President has very little actual power. If she picks warren it will be in an effort to pander towards progressives and nothing more.

If she continues to be this aloof and ignorant of the political winds even a complete idiot like Trump has a very good chance of becoming the next POTUS.

It's amazing when you consider that George W. Bush was vastly more competent than Trump and just in general a better human on top of that. He even had legit executive branch experience. Also, he had a genuine rapport with Hispanic voters.

I would agree with this. At the moment, there are many Sanders supporters who have no further interest in participating with the 2016 election--they will not vote one way or the other. However, many could be swayed to voting for Trump if Clinton antagonizes them to such an extent to persuade them to do so. I think Clinton needs to understand that there are people who are not only not afraid of Trump for who he is but hate Clinton for who she is and are only waiting for a reason to go out and outright vote against her.

Clinton must tread a fine line to sway these people into a position with her (or at least not against her).
I sincerely doubt more than 5% of Bernie supporters at the end of the day. Trump is in every way the anti-Bernie, sans I suppose being the underdog's of their respective contests, but on any substantive, policy based comparison, they're polar opposites. Sanders has spent his campaign attacking the 1% and their influence on elections, and how the Republicans have done all they could to block progressive reforms. The only Trump voters they'd be able to get are those who hate Hillary so much that they could literally vote for the antithesis of Sanders, and the vast majority of those people I imagine at the end of the day will stay home or vote Stein.

Bush got 40% of Hispanics in 2000, and still barely won the electoral college, while losing the popular vote, too. It's really impressive in how short-sighted Trump is to narrow in only white men alone to carry him into the White House.

I'm just saying that that's the best she'll be able to do if Bernie supporters are for whatever reason supremely shitty in this hypothetical scenario where they can't ever be swayed. That said, it'd serve her very well to not get to that point and start trying to win them over ASAP. It's very possible if she's careful and smart about it. Unless she acts completely retarded and actively attempts to alienate them.
Do we have any reason to think they realize this though? What's to say they haven't swallowed their bullshit and actaully think all Sanders supporters are misogynistic neckbeards that don't deserve representation? We know that most of the SJW-types seem to actually believe the rhetoric they spew about their perceived enemies. How do we know the acolytes of a notoriously unpleasant politician who hasn't had a legitimate political challenge in almost a decade to be any different?

I love it when questions answer themselves.

So I never trust anything I see on tumblr right off the bat, but since it is relevant to the thread, I thought I'd share this. I make no claims to its validity.

As far as I can tell, the only thing that can happen is at least 393 already-pledged superdelegates would have to switch to Sanders, and the few unpledged superdelegates would also all have to support him. In that case, neither candidate has enough to win the nomination, and it'd go to... whatever the hell happens at the convention, and in that case, the Democratic establishment will almost certainly pick Clinton. Enough superdelegates could switch to Sanders for him to get the nomination, but since Obama's already come out in support of Hillary, the chances of that happening are so slim that the situation is confined to the realm of fantasy.

It's the same thing with the anti-Trump crowd who are hoping that there will be some coup at the RNC that will oust Trump. It's theoretically possible; it'll also guarantee that the Republicans lose the general election as furious Trump supporters refuse to vote for Cruz or Kaisich or whoever replaces Trump.

It's gonna be Trump vs. Hillary. Deal with it. Vote for one of them. Vote for neither of them. Doesn't change the fact that this is what we're stuck with, for better or for worse.

These Tumblrfucks need to get over themselves. HRC is the Democratic nominee and there's nothing that can be done about that! I don't like it, either - but that's just more proof of why we need to stop playing into this shit system and really begin to do something about things here...

I may just be an overidealistic fuck, but I do think this year is going to be a really good year for Third Party candidates, especially for the Green Party and the Libertarian Party. In fact, I'm gonna vote Third Party this year myself because I can't with good conscience vote for either Trump or Hillary and I'm pretty sure most people here and most Bernie supporters feel the exact same way.

Trolling around the "Berniespehere" they've begun to vilify the Associated Press for calling the election in favor of Hillary (since y'know, it is) and have been clinging to the idea that California was "stolen" from Sanders because of reasons.

Also someone apparently took the whole "Google is in cahoots with Hillary" thing seriously...

Really, we're approaching fucking Alex Jones levels of tin-foil hattery.

To be fair, Hillary did win Arizona and New York through very VERY questionable means, so I would not be surprised if the same exact thing happened in California. That being said, it's a really good reason to not vote Clinton for the general election though and once again, a good reason to vote Third Party since I doubt a lot of these people will vote Trump.
