Old aircooled VWs are the coolest cars (in my opinion of course) and Things, being pretty much a Beetle with a different body on it, are no exception. To give him the benefit of the doubt, if the engine still has all of it's cooling tin installed and isn't clogged up with dirt and debris, it's a very practical car for riding around in the desert for the simple fact that it has less to go wrong. There's no water pump to go bad, a thermostat isn't going to stick closed, a rock isn't going to bounce up and puncture the radiator or one of its hoses, etc. Dressing it up as a Kubelwagen is stupid considering his current company, but how many of y'all wouldn't do the same with the car? I certainly could see myself doing it for jokes and ride around as an East German border guard or something.

It was genuinely a new concept, and I remember when he made the first video he was pretty enthusiastic particularly regards the trigger, which had an application for people with limited function in their hands, while at the same time being safe.

I'd love to know the story about how it went into production with a fairly obvious design fault.


He's keeping the G43 though, a rifle which had most of its parts manufactured in Vichy France and factories built around concentration camp labor.

Karl still hasn't done a really good video on the usage /manual of arms for the G43. The German infantry didn't like them, and I've read that Panzergrenadiers would keep the squad G43 in the vehicle for use by any of the crew, while everybody would still keep their own weapon system.

I just find the Thunderstruck interesting. A dual barrel revolver. Last ones I remember doing that were the Belgians (?) With that pin fire revolver.

I hope he keeps his G43, I want one of those someday, last thing we need is another removed from the market.

Any vehicle that's designed so that it's passengers are intended to dismount and lift it out of an obstruction is cool. Doesn't need doors, and roll cages are for fannies.

Honestly I probably would have got the Thunderstruck if they offered a .22 lr version. I'm a sucker for stupid gun gimmicks and I have a stockpile of .22 lr. I don't have any .22 mag and the price is/was/continuestoforeverbe too high for me to get into .22 mag.

16 inch barrel required to not need an NFA stamp. When you permanently install a muzzle device it counts towards barrel length, so pinning and welding their A2 flash hider puts their 14.7 barrel to 16. I assume their 16 inch model will still just have it threaded on.

Minor point but it stuck with me ever since I heard it: in a fairly early Q&A when he and Ian were talking about their ancestries, Karl mentions he still has family in Norway but he has no contact with them since his own branch of the family left during WWII. One of the things he offhandedly mentions is that "they might have been Quislings, I don't know". I have a feeling he might actually know.

"Kasarda" really doesn't sound Norwegian. There's many possible explanations, and I am retarded, but maybe he "doesn't know" because it's baloney? I don't know if everything associated with Karl is totally dead, he seems to have have a fairly solid core of followers (not that they have the ability to purchase/support any such project, but I digress), and his while his channel has shrunk recently it seems to still be fairly solid.

He's definitely alienated a large portion of the 2A community, and that's never going to change now. "Big" projects like the WWSD rifles and any collaborations with other 2A tubers are absolutely not happening. Apart from Russell (who, if he's smart will start distancing himself from Karl) and Troontical GF, I don't know of anyone who would have anything to do with Karl now, and that kind of project/content will have a far more limited audience than anything he's done before.
