So when they say it's 'genocide,' virtually every definition points to ethnicity, religion, race, national identity, etc. The genocide of the Uighurs is that because it's, y'know, targeting them specifically - the Great Leap Forward kindof killed fucking everyone, so calling it genocide usually isn't the terminology. It's a very, very specific word.
So when they say 'genocide,' they're kindof giving up the goose that it's 99% rich white kids, right?
There's no excuse since you can't google this game or view it on Steam without the controversy being shoved in your face.
Well, let's see. It's Very Positive with 119,925 reviews. 83 on metacritic. 'Recently posted' are mostly thumbs up, one thumbs down because it keeps crashing, one 1/10 with no further explanation. All but one of the 'most helpful' reviews in the past 7 days are positive, and the negative one's complaints are related strictly to the game's content itself.
Go ahead,
take a look right here.
And as far as googling it goes, the top result on google.co.jp is... well, some top stories about Pikamee, a Yahtzee review, and speculation about Sony buying Rockstar? Yeah, I don't know. The rest of the page's result details the game itself and the different platforms; there's no whiff of controversy. Whoah! Other people can SEO?! No way! Oh, and that's when I write in english, with a VPN pointed at an english-speaking country. Tunnel in to JP itself and use the JP title and you'll get even less than nothing on the 'controversy.' Because for 99% of the world, there is no controversy over Hogwarts Legacy.
Your therapist will never tell you (they want your business), but your ol' pal Rich Evans Apologist will - you've got a twitter addiction if you really think that most people playing the game even remotely know about this collective hissyfit.
