The problem isn't Sec 230. The problem is platforms can let you build a business or a brand on them, then blow it up for any reason or no reason, and they can collude to do this. I know a guy whose entire business was destroyed because on his personal account on one social media spot, he said something forbidden, and so all his business social media on other sites got taken down as well. It's over. He can no longer build an online business of any kind because of a single Facebook post.

If you're renting commercial property, your landlord can't evict you before the lease is up just because he felt like it one day. He can't change the terms of your lease without warning and lock the doors until you sign the new one. If you do get evicted, there's a process, you can contest, and the reasons aren't secret. If he does things that screw up your business, you can sue for damages. None of this is true in the world of online platforms, which have become as or even more important than commercial property.

We don't need Sec 230 repealed. We need platform users to have rights. It's not going to happen, of course, as the USG has found it very useful to be able to collude with social media to deplatform people they don't like.

The font from which springs forth all of these issues is the fact that even if you do get your own site up, even if you do want it to say what you want and you have the alleged protection of the first amendment behind your U.S. hosted site, even if you don't moderate it at all and hell especially if you don't, you fucking absolutely will be banned from the financial system.

Any fucking nigger who wants SS230 messed with before a right to exchange and store currency and services as long as nothing explicitly illegal is being done, is putting the entire fucking wagon caravan in front of a full parade of horses.

Leaders from 12 unions met with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Amit Bose, administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration.
The presidents of U.S. railroad unions told Biden administration officials that rail workers have fallen ill at the Norfolk Southern derailment site in East Palestine, Ohio, in a push for more train safety.

Leaders from 12 unions met with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Amit Bose, administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration, in Washington, D.C., Wednesday to discuss the derailment, aftermath and needed safety improvements.

“My hope is the stakeholders in this industry can work towards the same goals related to safety when transporting hazardous materials by rail,” said Mike Baldwin, president of the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen. “Today’s meeting is an opportunity for labor to share what our members are seeing and dealing with day to day. The railroaders labor represents are the employees who make it safe and they must have the tools to do so.”

Jeremy Ferguson, president of the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers — Transportation Division, told CNBC that Buttigieg plans on more talks with the unions in the future.

“This was a good start,” said Ferguson. “It’s important these safety issues are addressed. No one wants another East Palestine. The safety discussion of employees must be addressed. The running of these long trains was a point of discussion as well.”

The meeting comes on the heels of letters sent to both the DOT and the FRA Wednesday in which union representations claimed rail workers had gotten sick at the derailment site. CNBC obtained the letters, addressed to Buttigieg, Bose, East Palestine Mayor Trent Conaway and Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, from the general chairman of the American Rail System Federation of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

According to the letter, Norfolk Southern rail workers who have worked or continue to work the cleanup site have reported experiencing “migraines and nausea.” One worker reportedly asked his supervisor to be transferred off the derailment site because of his symptoms, but never heard back from his supervisor and was left at the job site.

I would like to think people have learned their lesson about the summer of love 2020 edition. However, two of the whitest people I've seen in a long time moved in next door long after the riots and immediately put up a black lives matter sign. People are still putting those up. The true believers will believe anything. That's how it works.

Blaming China is only a small part of it. But it's an easy concession to take the blame off the US Government. Fauci funded and largely directed the Wuhan lab through the NIH and EcoHealth Alliance. So virtually the US Government was funding experimentation on viruses outside of US jurisdiction.

I had to see that bill about declassifying COVID intelligence. So here is S.619 in its entirety:

S. 619

AN ACT
To require the Director of National Intelligence to declassify information relating to the origin of COVID–19, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the “COVID–19 Origin Act of 2023”.
SEC. 2. SENSE OF CONGRESS.

It is the sense of Congress that—
(1) identifying the origin of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID–19) is critical for preventing a similar pandemic from occurring in the future;
(2) there is reason to believe the COVID–19 pandemic may have originated at the Wuhan Institute of Virology; and
(3) the Director of National Intelligence should declassify and make available to the public as much information as possible about the origin of COVID–19 so the United States and like-minded countries can—
(A) identify the origin of COVID–19 as expeditiously as possible, and
(B) use that information to take all appropriate measures to prevent a similar pandemic from occurring again.
SEC. 3. DECLASSIFICATION OF INFORMATION RELATED TO THE ORIGIN OF COVID–19.
Not later than 90 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Director of National Intelligence shall—
(1) declassify any and all information relating to potential links between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the origin of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID–19), including—
(A) activities performed by the Wuhan Institute of Virology with or on behalf of the People’s Liberation Army;
(B) coronavirus research or other related activities performed at the Wuhan Institute of Virology prior to the outbreak of COVID–19; and
(C) researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology who fell ill in autumn 2019, including for any such researcher—
(i) the researcher’s name;
(ii) the researcher’s symptoms;
(iii) the date of the onset of the researcher’s symptoms;
(iv) the researcher’s role at the Wuhan Institute of Virology;
(v) whether the researcher was involved with or exposed to coronavirus research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology;
(vi) whether the researcher visited a hospital while they were ill; and
(vii) a description of any other actions taken by the researcher that may suggest they were experiencing a serious illness at the time; and
(2) submit to Congress an unclassified report that contains—
(A) all of the information described under paragraph (1); and
(B) only such redactions as the Director determines necessary to protect sources and methods.

A couple observations:

The fact that this passed so quickly suggests the SSCI (and probably HPSCI) and ODNI have already agreed on what will be released. If ODNI had any objections, the Democrats would have scuttled the bill to frustrate the Republicans.

"Sources and methods" protects almost everything you might want to see. Once the SCI, FGI, and FISA information is taken out, all you'll be left with is a some high-level "We assess with moderate probability" product. You'd probably get more specific information from laowhy86'. He actually scooped up a bunch of open source on WIV before China DFE'ed it.

I really don't normally wish death on people but I think I'll make an exception for Feinstein. She is so shamelessly fascist it's comical. I honestly can't think of any other politician who is so open about wanting to transform the world into a state full of wealthy elites and freedom less slaves and serfs who are ruled by corporations.

She will not be missed and the world will be greatly improved by her passing.
