TGWTG Dan Olson / Folding Ideas - Pseudo-Intellectual Hipster, Child Pornographer, and All-Around Exceptional Individual

How the fuck did this boring faggot became massive on YouTube?, last time i heard of him he playing with cardboard puppets and crying about how evil GamerGate was, while barely getting any views for it.
A tidal wave of soy inundated the entire world, and suddenly bearded ectomorphic pedophiles were the in thing.

Youtube assists the rise of faggots like this because the people in charge of the algorithm tend to hold the same beliefs. Throw a few breadtube tags in and push them to the top. I have never watched a breadtube video on my YT account yet I get recommended this shit. I block the channels every time because they are all the same, yet more show up. They even get recommended on the pages of videos that have absolutely no relation to their hour long essay drivel.

Dan acting like this actually makes me believe the /tv/ theory that he did his video on NC's The Wall as a way to help Lindsay make her comeback with her Mask Off video.

Video essays got popular when angry reviews waned in popularity so Dan was ahead of the curve in that regard. His videos are also long like his video on NFTs being 2 hours so the algorithm will recommend it to a lot of people as it keeps people on Youtube much longer than an 8 minute video would.

First I've heard, but wouldn't surprise me to know Danny boy was running interference for Lindsay.

That would be interesting - his Wall video was way behind the curve (I think he even says that everyone's already talked about it in the intro) and mentions the Change The Channel stuff. Meanwhile the other videos mocking it are like 10 minutes long and just going for laughs. I watched it a while back because of the algorithm and immediately went here to see if he had a thread.

Dan posted a new video the other day.

I'll summarize it real quick. I actually like his most recent videos, however, so take this with as much salt as you feel appropriate.

He starts off generally describing the type of online grifters who make money selling people courses, books, and advice on how to essentially get rich on the internet, calling these people "Contrepreneurs". He then starts specifically talking about the Mikkelsen twins and the method they sell people. Their method is essentially:
  1. Look for trending topics on Audible and pick one on the rise
  2. Use a dirt-cheap ghost writing service to get someone else to hammer out a shitty non-fiction book about the topic
  3. Pay some wannabe voice actor to record an audio book for it
  4. Pay someone on Fiverr to make a cover
  5. Post it on Audible
  6. Review-trade with other people who bought into this scheme to boost it
He then talks about how the pace the ghost writers have to move at is brutal and actually tries to write a book at that pace. After doing so he dives more into how much the service costs, how much effort it is, and ties it into his crusade against the "gig economy" because the only reason this scam was ever possible is because if you get a bunch of writers to compete for the opportunity to take jobs, like Uber or DoorDash, you drive the price down and the people who end up taking these jobs aren't making a livable wage.

Some former associate of Dan Olson made a longass thread with DMs about Dan white knighting for Lindsay Ellis. Also some chatter about Todd in the Shadows and Lindsay's drunkenness. (link/archive)

What a scam figured out.

In his Mikkelsen Twins video he harps on "ghost writers only make $3 an hour!" but that's just his calculation based on 1,000 words a day.

These ghost writers probably put out 10,000 words a day because they aren't researching the topic or putting any effort into the book, they're doing little more than rubbing their hands on the keyboard. They make up a word salad based on a wikipedia page and repeat the same thing over and over again until they've hit the word requirement.

The only reason it took him so long and was so hard for him was because he actually researched the topic and put effort into it over a month, meanwhile his ghost writer probably wrote his book and 10 others in 2 days, and only waited a month to send them back so it looked like he put some effort into it. It's easy money and he's treating it like we should pity the scammer for typing "hypnosis, some say, is a means for shutting off pain or triggering suppressed memories" in different ways for an hour and making 30 bucks.

Necropost but I just got this guy in my recommendations today and I could tell 5 seconds into the Contrepreneur video that he was a creepy faggot and a minute later after scanning his channel that he probably had a thread of some degree on the farms.

I didn't expect over 50 pages of this guy though and just how connected he was to GamerGate. He reminds me so much of Dobson that if you told me they were the same person I probably wouldn't doubt you.

I agreed with most of his chicken nugget video, but had to roll my eyes when he started talking about the classist divide of chicken nuggets
You're not eating mechanically reclaimed chicken tenders because everything's going GREAT in your life!
OH SHUT THE FUCK UP! As if Donald Trump never stuffs his face with Mcnuggets. Not to mention that he claims eating chicken nuggets is a sign of poverty when actual poor kids wish their parents could AFFORD to buy them a 4pc Mcnuggets more than 1nce every several months

Dan Olson has released a new video on the metaverse Decentraland. (link)

Why this video isn't about the far more horrific Facebook Metaverse, I can think of two reasons:
  • The Facebook Metaverse has been talked about to death
  • Decentraland has more of a fan base and more all around to dig into
The real reason is probably his hated of cryptocurrency and alternate currency in general.

Better yet don't waste your money in the first place
Pretty sure the only reason this website is still going is because Josh took a chance on some crypto years ago and ending up with a lot of money from it. Forget exactly what crypto but I do remember him saying this on MATI.

Crypto was a really nasty bubble, so those that invested early often got good returns while a lot of people ended up holding a shit-covered bomb if they bought off of somebody who liquidated before the bubble burst. Josh got lucky more than anything else when it came to crypto investing.

This is true but I wouldn't chalk it up to just luck since the "never sell" mindset is really easy to fall into when you keep seeing the number go up, you need good enough judgement to go "this is enough, I'm pulling out" so that you don't end up holding the bag.

I've never heard of this guy but I was looking through the TV tropes listings for drama about the train wreck that was channel awesome and I found this on their trivia page:

"In late 2014, Dan Olson wrote a piece of investigative journalism on Medium about a controversial web forum. The trolls that inhabited the forum started a smear campaign against Olson that reached Michaud, who then effectively fired Olson on the spot instead of hearing him out, and he then called Lindsay Ellis while she was driving to her parents' house for Christmas to yell at her about it because Olson is her friend."

Please tell me that was us.

This was probably goobergrape, when Olson published what he claimed to be child pornography as some kind of own on 8chan, where he claimed he'd found it. I didn't see it but it was allegedly some kind of loli material, which would have been legal in the U.S. but a crime in Canada, the foul shithole that he lives in.

I believe Olson was fired from Channel Awesome because instead of making videos, he dedicated all his time fighting Gamergate. He made two videos in his six or so months on Channel Awesome, one of which was calling Gamergate terrorists. (Not stochastic terrorists because that wasn't invented yet in online leftism.) Also, in one of their few good decisions, Channel Awesome management declined to officially condemn Gamergate, which Olson and pals took umbrage to. I guess downloading child porn to smear 8chan didn't help his case, but he was on his way out regardless.

Last time I heard the story, Dan and James “Laurelei” Bailey distributed actual CP and then tried to claim they “found” it on 8chan to make it look bad. Still don't know how he found it for what was “merely” a “false flag”

Hotwheels at the time confirmed it by looking at logs and the creation of a board by somebody who just happens to have the same IP as Laurelai. Just remember, these people operate on the "no bad tactics, only bad targets" mentality when it comes to their enemies.
