Dan posted a new video the other day.
I'll summarize it real quick. I actually like his most recent videos, however, so take this with as much salt as you feel appropriate.
He starts off generally describing the type of online grifters who make money selling people courses, books, and advice on how to essentially get rich on the internet, calling these people "Contrepreneurs". He then starts specifically talking about the Mikkelsen twins and the method they sell people. Their method is essentially:
- Look for trending topics on Audible and pick one on the rise
- Use a dirt-cheap ghost writing service to get someone else to hammer out a shitty non-fiction book about the topic
- Pay some wannabe voice actor to record an audio book for it
- Pay someone on Fiverr to make a cover
- Post it on Audible
- Review-trade with other people who bought into this scheme to boost it
He then talks about how the pace the ghost writers have to move at is brutal and actually tries to write a book at that pace. After doing so he dives more into how much the service costs, how much effort it is, and ties it into his crusade against the "gig economy" because the only reason this scam was ever possible is because if you get a bunch of writers to compete for the opportunity to take jobs, like Uber or DoorDash, you drive the price down and the people who end up taking these jobs aren't making a livable wage.
