You Know What Grinds My Gears? - Things that personally piss you off

The fact you can get Disney branded everything for kids - clothes, drink bottles, lunch boxes, heck, even nappies (or diapers for all the 'Muricans here). Especially Mickey Mouse - is he even relevant anymore apart from as a brand mascot? Even worse when the best/cheapest/the only one available is the Disney branded variant. Fuck you, I'm driving to the next store and paying an extra $5 just so my 3yo niece has at least one pair of socks that don't have Mickey's creepy stare on them.

This is autistic as its a subject I don't really care much about, but...

I hate when I hear people pronounce "lolicon" as "Lolly-con." It's Low-lee-con." It comes from Lolita Complex, and Lolita is pronounced "Low Lee Tuh." Nobody would ever say "Lolly Tuh." It also just makes me think of lollipops, which I would rather not do in this context.

(Although actually you could argue that the "lollipop" connection actually makes "lolly-con" a better pronounciation.... but don't argue that, please)

I attribute it to being kind of in the same vein as pronouncing the prefix "pedo" as "pee-doh", just because "peh-doh" sounds dumb, even though the full root word is "peh-doh-[file]". Fitting that they're both products of the same topic.

Meanwhile, the britbongs pronounce "pedophile" as "pee-doh-[file]" for some reason. But TBF, that's one britism that makes enough sense to accept, IMO.

What pisses me off about the subject is that our language isn't just phonetically spelled in the first place because most people used to be illiterate and no one wanted to bother standardizing the use of our alphabet. Even the spelling of the word "alphabet" is an abomination to writing.

No, it's "lo-lita"
And even if you go for the uncivilised American pronunciation, it's "low-li-tha

It's not hard to say "pe-do". It sounds dumb, because people fuck up the pronunciation.

It does't make sense, and my bet is it come from the time where the Brits migrated to America. Basically brought back this new fancy word.

On the topic of muricans fucking up the pronunciation of words. They simply refuse to pronounce designer brands right. The directors are even calling them out for how retarded they are.

English Spelling Does Little Wrong. If English spelling was that bad no one would be able to speak it. But really they would as Chinese exists - it's the biggest language on Earth and it uses wholly random and incredibly complex emojis. There's also Ancient Egyptian (random emojis), Japanese (three alphabets), French (weird sounds/spelling), and the Celtic languages (unpopular French).
Also "alphabet" is fine, letter combos and vowel reduction are common in Euro tongues. One of the gh words would be a better example (igh is fine tho). I wish the weirdest spellings could change but a spelling reform wouldn't work. Academics do nothing but argue, people don't care enough to change their deepest reflexes, and it would be taken over by politics if tried in Current Year.

Related: People arguing over accent-based pronunciation is retarded and it Grinds My Gears. A speaker says words in the way they're used to. Unless they're trying to speak another language there's nothing wrong with their God-given accent affecting pronunciation (tomayto/tomawto) or with it causing them to """butcher""" (yuck I cringed while typing that) a foreign name. As some Kiwi said before, it's odd this Accent Nazi Commie thinking arose in America, you'd think a settler nation full of immigrants would be okay with mispeakings and typos.

Honestly, there are people in my own damn country I can't understand. Because their accent is so fucked.
If people are unwilling to speak properly, that's okay. Just don't expect people outside of your town to bother with your shit, as even if English isn't even my first language. It's just tiring trying to interpret people that don't speak my first language and barely speak any English.

I don't care to point it out as long as I'm able to understand, but pronouncing words in a different way cause of "accent". Comes across as very snowflakey and I will think you’re a retard and/or a fag.

Okay, I don't know if this is like a common thing or not, but a 26 year old I've been talking to asked me if I wanted to watch her new tik tok today. Without getting into specifics, it turned out that it was just a video with music she made. She doesn't actually have a tik tok account, but says that videos with music are just known as "tik toks" now.

Have I just become incredibly old, or is she just dumb? Either way, gears have been ground

"1. Obtain paper.
2. Choose the piece you wish to fold.
3. Fold it into a paper crane."

Fuck you, Adobe. This is one reason why I'll never pay for your user unfriendly software that people pay thousands of dollars to shitty colleges to learn how to use because you hide basic functions. I'll use Pirate Bay and Youtube, you can just eat shit.

Is ffmpeg available on your platform (I'm guessing Windows)? Because clipping videos is a single command with ffmpeg; you just need to know the stard/end timestamps.

one thing that bothers me is people using the term 'partner' or to a lesser degree 'mate' if you are in a romantic relationship with a person then they are your boyfriend/husband if they are male, and girlfriend/wife if female. you arnt a wild animal nor a super hero, the term partner is just stupid. and if you are doing it to be gender neutral then fuck you and fuck trannies.

I hate how internet culture has been integrated into mainstream culture.

In the early 2010's, if I were to find someone in real life to share cringey Rage Face comics with, it was exciting to me, because it meant knowing you browse the same corners of the internet like 4chan. But 4chan has been mainstream for a while now and, its autistic, toxic charm is no longer contained. Now you can observe normies on every major social media platform being publicly toxic while using image boards memes all without being anonymous and I find that really uncanny.

Just for fun you should call them "MTVs".

>excited that an English version of Uncharted Waters Origin is finally being published
>launched yesterday
>three different $40 battle passes
>three different RMT currencies
>eight different types of loot boxes
>in-game currency and ships purchasable with cash
>Korean version that has an infinitely better monetization scheme is region blocked

Thanks, I hate it.

When everyday people see a 'new' technology and act like it is brand new, while also calling you a conspiracy theorists, tinfoil hat wearing schizo because you told them of this 'new' technology 10 years ago. Or worse, they say "Yeah it make's you wonder how long this has been going on for". No, it fucking doesn't, people have been telling you for 10 years.

Sorry for MATI, but the new 'AI' craze is just another example in a long list of examples of how retarded people are. AI has been writing news stories, even using computer generated images of people that aren't real people, for nearly a decade.

You should have to pass a test before using technology and the internet.
