One of the problems with Journalism These Days is that they're mostly born and raised city people.

They have no frame of reference for rural life so if you tell them that you once got off the freeway in Lodi and everyone threw rocks at your car because it had a Bernie sticker, they'll just accept that totally credulously.

Like you listen to the tranchers talk about the notorious 4th of July parade and they make it sound like "Triumph of the Will," then you watch the YouTube videos and it's a bunch of normal small town folk doing what normal small town folk do. Scary!

I normally don't like podcasts but I might give this "Blocked and Reported" a try.
I never really understood why so many posters here hate journalists, and why so many journalists disparage the farms as a source. Many kiwis act like journalists already - we like to document things, uncover what's really going on, archive and record things so others can read it, and "get the scoop" so to speak. Also a lot of the primary sources that are compiled here are perfectly good and easily verifiable.
Personally, I blame Twitter. Wether they were motivated by laziness or overly-tight deadlines, way too many journalists just use tweets as sources. Tweets can be leads, but you need to actually dig to get the whole story.
Edit so I don't double-post:
Biggest plot twist is that Kevin died accidentally in a comedically pathetic fashion and they have been using a bot and or photoshop for all his tweets.
Place your bets! How did Kevin Gibes die?
- catastrophic amhole collapse
- eaten by starving alpaca
- eaten by starving field serf
- Penny forgot to feed him
- mauled to death by Kindess while she was pretending to be blind and rabid so she could get out of doing chores
- misgendered to death by Earl and his all-girl army of kung-fu killers (the TERFs)
- crushed under a Transformers avalanche
- scurvy

Combination of these, no question.

The short answer is that the kind of journalism which the farms relates to is entirely written by people seeking to champion the lolcows.

The longer answer is that journalists know the farms is a pretty dependable resource for internet curiosities, but don’t want to risk a J.K. Rowling style backlash from Troons due to being seen to take the farms seriously.

Farmers who are vocal about hating journalists are mostly the kind of people who would whether they posted on kiwifarms or not.

Journalists are a necessary evil in my opinion.
Granted some are total and utter garbage humans, Tabloid journalists, Hollywood Reporters, paparazzi and the like.
There is a need for serious and credible journalism however, it’s just a case of learning how to get the most complete picture from the available sources.

Journalists are human like anyone else, so their work can be flawed.

re: prohibited individuals

When the NICS Improvement Act of 2007 (i.e. "Veterans Disarmament Act") was signed into law, it really wasn't implemented until systems were integrated & reporting standards finally changed, circa a particular church massacre by an insane ex-serviceman. The law originally stated that anyone adjudicated as being mentally defective was a prohibited person; it's no longer restricted to involuntary psychiatric committment. It also served as the basis for giving state Red Flag laws teeth.

Now being classified/reported as mentally defective can happen very easily, for a myriad of non-violent & benign reasons; and there's literally no way to appeal or undo such an adjudication, because the process & funding to do so doesn't exist (completely not by design), and it can't be done like a petition for reinstatement after a felony conviction.

tl;dr: doctors, .gov social workers, VA administrators, lawyers and courts can petition for rubberstamp adjudication on any individual they feel is mentally defective, along with reporting those felt to be a threat/risk; and their record systems (hospitals, VA, etc) are now fully hooked into NICS.

Edit: that's not to say the system even functions as intended. People get denied on background checks because someone else with the same name in another state is sent to a mental ward; because they were unknowingly diagnosed with something like PTSD, OCD, or otherwise erroneously reported to NICS. Along with legitimately insane people who voluntarily commit themselves, yet through negligence, laziness, or coding failure aren't reported as being defective; yet denials have definitely ramped up across the board.

Just your average sword-lesbians bravely battling the evil rentiers.
Altho, they were living in trailers in some caste based intentional community so it's more like the rise of the field troons...

This is the most insane (and yet somehow familiar) story. Do AGPs share the same brain? We see the same narc rage over and over. Trans Rationalist Death Cult aka Field Troons needs its own thread asap. I'd make one but I'm new and I'd fuck it up.

To the town of Westcliff Colorado came a chudster one fine day
Hardly spoke to folks around him, didn't have too much to say,
No one cared to ask his business, no one dared to make a flip,
The stranger there among them had a big bulge on his hip,
big bulge on his hip

It was early in the morning when he goosestepped in the town
He came clearly from the right side, slowly saluting all around
"He's a Proudboy spreading hatred", came the tweet from every phone,
"And he's here to oppress the business of some troons over the hill"
Troons over the hill

In this town there lived an amhole with the name of Kathryn Gibes
20 chasers had tried to take him, but that many men had failed
He was stinky and a coomer, though a gelding of middle age,
and the notches on his bedpost numbered 0 and zero more
0 and zero more

Now the chudster started talkin' made it plain to folks around
Was a Gamergate adherent Trumper, wouldn't stay too long in town
He was there to free Alpacas, 'least the ones that had survived
And he said it didn't matter that he would clash with Troon Team Five
Clash with Troon Team Five

Wasn't long until the story was tweeted at the Tranch
But the Trooners were elated, it was another chance to grift
Twenty times they had GoFundMes, twenty times they made a pearl
twenty-one would be a shootout, with a chud that they called Earl
Chud that they called Earl
This song was literally playing when I read this post. Thanks for the quality laughs.

Well, this is relevant because the usual angle that BAR takes to the subjects they cover, typically an online controversy, is that many journalists don’t even try to understand it, or actively pick a “socially accepted” side.

That is obviously in common with a lot of people here who’ve lived through GamerGate and the Keffals Kerfuffle.

I do think people here go a bit far, and tar the entire profession with the crimes of the few, or subscribe to the whole “Jews run teh media” conspiracy.

Anyway, BAR is good in that the subject matter is often the same as we talk about here, and it’s refreshing to hear a more mainstream and middle of the road commentator talk about them without falling into either the hardline groupthink of the left or disingenuous hysteria of the right. Imo.

Is there a way to look yourself up to see if you've been listed as defective? Asking for a friend who might be myself.

RE: Kevin.

His presence at the tranch has never made sense to me. He has nothing in common with any of the others, aside from being a Troon. I don't remember if the other tranchers were gamers or just Kevin, but that's really the only thing they might have in common with him.

He likes being horny, Transformers, vidya, and laying around doing nothing. Not exactly the lifestyle of anyone who lives out on the land, especially a "working" ranch.

I don't even understand what Penis saw in him in the first place. Let alone stayed with him after seeing his lack of behavior at the tranch. He's apparently happy to let Kevin mooch off of him forever. Kevin is a housewife without the sex OR the cleaning getting down.

At least Jen does some programming to presumably bring in a bit of money. Even if he doesn't bring in money with it programming is still an intellectual hobby that he could leverage into making money.

Prohibited to do what?
Own, possess, buy, sell, trade, fondle, fellate, or otherwise fuck with firearms. Currently, being flagged in NICS for mental health in most states will result in an automatic denial if they attempt to buy firearms from an FFL. But besides that, lot of effort is being done to instantly notify local law-enforcement of an individual's status as a prohibited person whenever they're contacted or investigated. The same is being done with state domestic violence convictions, which instantly causes a federal prohibition on owning/possessing firearms.

The end result? An otherwise legally permitted citizen can get cucked in a divorce, and in a moment of weakness is treated for suicidal thoughts/PTSD/etc; they are then pulled over for a traffic violation, and hands the officer their concealed weapon permit (or volunteers the information in permitless states). So when the deputy goes back & punches that data into the system, prohibited person red flags by NICS for mental illness will show up.

Or an elderly veteran who needs a caregiver to handle their finances are classified as deficient to legally permit caregiving agencies those powers, and the adjudication will pop up if they're ever contacted by police & found to be armed. Both scenarios have happened & confiscations occurred, either immediately or at a later date.

A lawyer can find out, or a friendly FFL who who will do a sham BGC (lol good luck with that); but private individuals currently can't access their file/status on NICS from home, and lately the ATF has been making an effort at tracking down prohibited individuals who attempt to buy guns & are denied.

Note: I've heard some state social-service agencies can also perform NICS checks, but they definitely won't do it for you.

Edit: you  might be able to do it with a FOIA request, but I highly doubt it.

@AnOminous might be able to provide more insight or guidance, as my detailed knowledge is a couple years out of date.

Funny to see the Blocked and Reported podcast get featured here. I've already listened to the occasional episode for the past several years, and I think it's up the alley of Kiwifarms in the frequent discussion of (often woke) weirdos and the bizarre drama/controversy they get up to. Yes, Jesse Singal and and Katie Herzog are liberals, but I find them to be sensible, good-humored, and often self-deprecating. And the Left hates their guts.

It's funny to hear them at the end of this episode give such a glowing endorsement of Kiwifarms as a good source of information (minus the slurs) on the people and happenings that journalists won't dare talk about.

That's fucking bullshit. That's just a way to get more people arrested. There are times when "ignorance of the law" should be a valid defense. This definitely counts.

Everyone speculating that there's no dead body and Paul just said something off hand to make the tranch look bad are operating off of the assumptions that the tranch is made up of people who are normal, smart and sane. They're neither of those things.

I took the original comment to mean that there is a body at the tranch and Paul himself has information about it.

Norintha mentions a location in Longmont where they're keeping ten alpaca and five goats. That's Phil's grandparents' house, right? The one from the video where a goat headbutts an alpaca? If that's the case, it's really disingenuous of them to imply that the property is the "new ranch." Do Phil's grandparents know that the tranchers aren't treating their house as a temporary arrangement and intend to operate their business there?

Also, do we know what this property looks like outside of what Phil and Kevin have posted?

For some reason I can't quote your previous post, but regarding Kevin, I assume Penis wanted a slice of those inheritance checks he was getting from his aunt, and is now too deep into the transbian larp to back out, sunk cost fallacy is a real bitch...
