Sometimes I wonder what percentage of the trans populations is of the "always online" kind. There are so many of them on the internet and in internet discourse it seems like the few trans people that exists are always shitposting somewhere.

I'm reminded of a social justice article from a decade ago - The Distress Of The Privileged.

It's a dated rambling article but the crux of it is basically that if you're used to being top of the totem pole, steps taken to equalise things will feel like you're being subjugated, even if it just means you're being treated more like everyone else.

A lot of our sideshows transitioned in what, the last 5 years? And over the last decade trans people have generally been top of the totem pole in social justice spaces. The only people who could criticise them were evil Nazi chuds who didn't get into their hugboxes. Anyone else who dared was instantly cancelled. By dint of being the most oppressed people who never did anything wrong, they were pretty princesses in their little bubbles.

Having no experience of being a pre-2010s trans person, the last year or two is their first experience of real life infiltrating their hugbox. Like George saying "Honey, I'm home" but not finding dinner on the table, they're saying "transphobia kills trans people" but that's not stopping people playing the wizard game, or stopping Elon Musk buying twitter, or stopping normies banning trans women from sports.

That loss probably feels like the first stages of a genocide to some of them.

Well, think about it, if it turns out being trans was a fashionable trend, what happens to troons? Well, we can divide troons into roughly 4 catagories:
1. Drag Queens (Drag Kings are rarer but they do exist): Nothing really changes for them. They made peace with the troons a while back, but they weren't ever really part of troonism (they are very aware that they are the gender they were born as and that they are doing a performance).
2. Troons who didn't have surgery or take drugs: They'll be fine. They can just stop pretending to be the opposite gender.
3. Troons who took pills or shots: Likely lifelong heath problems when they stop the drugs, that will require treatment. Not hopeless but not good.
4. Troons who got surgery: They're fucked. No seriously. None of that is really fixable.

Now we did have some people who transitioned via surgery before it became fashionable. Research tells me that they were unhappy people and the surgery didn't help them:

You can point that out and cases like Bunten's, but it won't matter, because they'll point at "It caused difficulties in family relationships, and led to her being shunned by the video game industry" and say the unhappiness was not because of the surgery, but because of the lack of acceptance by society.
Same reason why pointing out that suicide rates don't decrease after transitioning is always met with "it's because people still discriminate against them".

They can never be wrong about it, all the catastrophic results are always because the world isn't doing enough for them.
