Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Is anyone actually surprised? Female empowerment for these studios is naught but a tagline, like their supposed love of LGBT and their commitment to social justice. It's nothing more but PR, and it stops when the company wants profits. They proclaim to love racial minorities and LGBT, but they do business in China which hates both of them. Female empowerment is all well and good, unless the men in charge see otherwise.

Disney Lucasfilm and Hollywood only tolerate and use leftist buzzwords as a way to make money. The moment it starts costing them, they'll dump it like a used tampon.

Lucasfilm must be a disaster of internal rivalries and politics. If there was one Star Wars project that I think would be a surefire winner it would be a Rogue Squadron movie. Have the higher ups at Lucasfilm noticed that one of the biggest movies of 2022 was a fighter pilot movie called Top Gun? A Star Wars fighter pilot movie is a no brainer! Everyone remembers the iconic space battles from the original trilogy. Plus a Rogue Squadron movie would emphasize the WAR in Star Wars which I think was part of the success of Andor and Rogue One.

Just set it after the Second death star battle and have it be classic imperial vs rebel action. How could this go wrong?

They can and have fucked it up. It's called alpha squadron.

"Lucasfilm denied that they even had an agreement, even though (1) they had made their offer, containing all of the material deal points; (20 McCarthy accepted that offer; (3) Lucasfilm had McCarthy start right away; and (4) Lucasfilm sent to McCarthy a memorandum of agreement, memorializing the terms including that McCarthy had already commenced working, In further disregard of McCarthy and the work she had already done, Lucasfilm offered to pay McCarthy $5,000 for a single day’s work."
No, you didn't misread that. They got two weeks of work out of this woman, but are only paying for one day of work. This isn't new territory for Disney/LFL. After all, this is the same company who tried to duck out of paying Alan Dean Foster his deserved royalties for years, making money off of work he wasn't being compensated for. But the difference is that McCarthy isn't a cancer-ridden 76-year-old man, and is not only pushing with a lawsuit, but airing all of this quite publicly, to ensure that everyone can see what kind of cavalcade of assholes inhabit LucasFilm's corporate hierarchy.

You know, it's funny; for a company that spends so much time chestbeating on social media about the vitality, diversity and inclusion, and about how "The Force is Female" and how "Women Run The Star Wars Universe"...LucasFilm certainly seems awful squeamish about paying their female employees for their work.

Seems like all that female empowerment stops at the door. Who'd have thunk it, right?
Sure, but I assumed it was going to be vague stuff that doesn't directly affect profitability, not actually cause lawsuits where damages can be specified.

AlphaBET squadron. They weren't even trying.
Should have just called it "Coon Platoon"
Considering almost all of the characters in that disney book were lgbtbbq, the name Alphabet Squadron was awfully apt... Seriously though, that name was peak creative bankruptcy. Its as if disney-lucasfilm actually ran out of name and color ideas for squadrons. They're a disgrace to Luceno's Alpha Squadron.

I legit don't think the timing of this news could've been any worse, with the announcement of Feige and Jenkins' projects being mercilessly axed. Whether you hate LFL or you simp for them, this is an awful, awful look for them right now.

If you want a breakdown the lawsuit, apparently this McCarthy lady turned down a high-paying gig at Apple producing a series called Sugar, which she had to back out of due to LucasFilm wanting her as a producer on the upcoming High Republic-set Acolyte series on Disney Plus. According to her, LFL's contract demanded a "long-term commitment" to the series, which would prevent her from even taking new contracts like the Apple one at a later date.

And then out of fucking nowhere, two weeks into shooting the Acolyte, "without explanation, without reason, without justification, Lucasfilm told McCarthy it wanted out of the deal", which was an unbelievably shitty move since this was not only a breach of LFL's contract, but also because by this point, "Apple's offer was gone, as they had to move on and find for Sugar", ensuring that McCarthy now "had neither deal".

Oh, but it gets worse. Because then LFL just decided not to pay her for her two weeks of work. Well, unless you call a pittance of $5,000 sufficient wages for two weeks of production work. And what does LFL due when McCarthy calls them out on this? Well...

This is standard Hollywood fuck-fuck games, not just Disney.

Its slightly different than the ADF thing where Disney was holding royalties to all Fox-signed authors hoping to starve them to get them to come groveling, where turning on the royalty tap would mean they'd renegotiate their contracts and sign all rights over to Disney in exchange for checks resuming - while forgetting that some of the hired-guns were actual writers with connections and pull with other writing circles, and not just zero-talent hacks like the Cuck Wendigs they hired.
This is just usual fucking anyone low enough and who doesn't have the right sort of friends/patrons to keep their butthole un-violated.

Given the money hollywood wastes and puts into kickbacks you think they'd have just signed over what's less than a rounding error to make it go away. But I hope McCarthy nails them to the wall and makes studios think twice about this sort of bullshit.

I wonder why they ditched her. Was the production a mess? Was she calling out the production being a mess? No one has any hope for that show.

Usual reason is someone connected/owed a favor/more willing to lick boots is found.

that name was peak creative bankruptcy
This is Disney/Lucasfilm we're talking about. The same company whose creative process is
  1. Rip off the past
  2. Come up with the safest, most bland idea possible
Remember The Starship Vessel?

Was the production a mess?
Almost every Kennedyfilm production has been a total mess on some level.
I hope McCarthy nails them to the wall and makes studios think twice about this sort of bullshit.
Knowing how The Mouse works at this point they'll probably pay her off to shut up and keep it as quiet as possible.

Disney has been doing the same kind of Hollywood fuck-fuck games ever since Eisner came on board and stuffed it full of penny-pinching Paramount executives.

Remember when Disney parks used to be dirt cheap to go to because Walt Disney wanted everyone to be able to experience the Magic Kingdom? That era's long dead. All Disney is now is just another glorified Hollywood outlet. There were embers of what Walt created that survived through the 90s and early 2000s, but by the time of the MCU, it was dead, and all you had was a money-making machine that gobbled up IPs and shat out blockbusters. Essentially, Michael Bay, but for kiddies and SJWs.

They can and have fucked it up. It's called alpha squadron.
Alpha Squadron? Really? That's the most generic name you can get for a starfighter squadron.

I just checked the solicits in regards to that Durge comic. Apparently, it's also going to feature that group of lifeless mannequins from DICEfront II, the Inferno Squad. You remember those guys, right? The totally memorable, woman-led team from that hugely compelling campaign from that all-time classic game?

...Yeah, me neither. In fact, I think these comics are the first time those characters have been used in any media since 2017.

I thought was already back and Dr. Aphra killed him.
In any case, this is just another case of the people in Lucasfilm realizing they shat the bed by getting rid of the EU and reintegrating aspects because they are creatively bankrupt.
They've been doing that from the start.
-Rebels is a poor man's Force Unleashed, it concerns a not-so-orthodox Jedi with a buzz cut who inspires rebels.
-Rogue One is the Disney Princess version of Dark Forces, an adventure about taking the Death Star plans, with the good guys fighting black-armored Imperial supersoldiers.
-The Force Awakens is a rushed version of Legacy of the Force, complete with an evil son of Han Solo.
-The Last Jedi is a poor man's KOTOR 2, with Luke as Kreia questioning the Jedi way, except poorly.
-Rise of Skywalker is Dark Empire meets Twilight. With Palpatine coming back and unearthing new world-shattering weapons.

Not sure if anyone know, but it looks like Durge is back again, this time in the ongoing comic series Star Wars: Bounty Hunter. And his species the Gen'Dai is Canon again for the game Jedi Survivor.
Its really ironic seeing disney and their shilling news outlets use classic Star Wars characters and aliens to attract attention to new Disney Wars content despite how they (and especially fucks like Hidalgo on twitter) didn't waste any time shitting on anything sweu related just to make the diseu and their sequels look better. Now every shill and their dad is going "OMG Durge and the Gen'Dai are back!" despite that most of these mouth-breathers cooming over it now were either disney drones who never bothered to even look at anything relating to Genndy's Clone Wars until after Disney advertised it again, or the same lot of redditors, filoni kiddies and jedi council forum faggots who wouldn't stop shitting on Durge or anything EU related in 2014 just to promote the continuity reboot for TFA.

Even the fags at wookieepedo who kept insisting that Durge was no longer a Gendai but a human in Marvel as Lord Filoni intended (with no regards to the wants of his actual creator or even George) are acting as if they never supported that retarded notion. That's really the most annoying thing about them really. Wookieepedia and shills keep acting as if Disney and Filoni are sitting on a secret reservoir of Star Wars knowledge that has been hidden from the public for 40 years and claiming "Legends hid you from the truth", and even when disney just shamelessly copies something that came before or blatantly retcons said thing, the consoomers act as if said thing never existed until Disney "invented" it or revealed the "truth" about it while original creators don't get a damn dime in royalties unless they threaten to sue.

It gets even more annoying when Disney makes a shameless knockoff or queer genderbent expy of a pre-existing character, brag about "now her story can be told", and then the shills pretend that this character has been in Star Wars all along.

As if it couldn't get worse, they even made the unmasked Gen'Dai look as non-threatening as the monkeyfied brutes in Halo Infinite.

They're desperate to try and redeem anything bad they made before by tying it to anything better just to make it look good by association when in fact they're just needlessly dragging down others. Like how they made Thrawn the punching bag for the Aladdin Gang when their ratings started to dip.

In relation to what I said before about shills and their reaction to Disney OCs, I still remember when DICE made the big reveal for Inferno Squad at E3 years ago and everyone there and online started cooming after one of the voice actors showed up on stage and announced her character's name, with everyone reacting as if this was some long lost beloved character "OMG I can't believe its Iden Versiowho! She's back!" You dumb nogs, she was invented for the game that was just getting revealed. :reality:

The irony of how Disney and fan (((communities))) went out of their way to shitcan everything that came before and then brag about it just so they could double back and use it again when they're at their lowest is both hilarious and infuriating.

I hope so very badly Henry Cavill can make Warhammer 40k popular and just pulverize the shit out of Disney. They don't know how to deliver what people want and they would be blown the fuck out of the water if 40k was done even halfway decent.

When was the last time we had a proper war in star wars?
Cavill seems like a nice guy and an actual fanboy with a non-bloated head on his shoulders unlike those at Disney-Lucasfilm, so I'm sure it'll be good. If he throws in some Orkz that will be all I need. But you'd best hope the faggy higher-ups at Amazon don't try to inject a lot of their usual bs into it or wokify it.

With Amazon at the helm? The same people who made The Boys and Rings of Power? It's going to be more woke than Disney Wars is. Just because Henry Cavill is involved doesn't mean it won't be woke. The Witcher series is proof enough of that. I wish him all the best, but with Amazon involved, I can't see it succeeding, given Amazon's track record. I mean, look at what happened with The Boys. It started off as "fuck superheroes" but wound up being about how toxic old-world masculinity is, especially given the character of Soldier Boy, who was basically a guy from half a century ago, being portrayed as a toxic male.

40K had its chance to blow Disney Wars out of the water when TLJ came out. There were even some SW fans going over to Warhammer 40K after TLJ. But after the Baby Yoda craze, the normies came crawling back to Disney Wars while 40K floundered. Games Workshop is too lazy to do 40K even halfway decent outside of the models. And your average normie isn't going to read a dozen books to figure out who the guy in the armor suit is, and what differentiates a Primaris Marine or a Terminator Marine from your bogstandard Space Marine outside of mere height differences.

When was the last time we had a proper war in star wars?
Outside of the books and games, 2003-2005, where we saw in the 2003 Clone Wars cartoon and the Prequels how big SW battles can get.
