Nintendo Switch (Currently Plagued) - Here we shit post about the new Nintendo console, The Switch

I’m gonna buy it and its inevitable expansion anyway because I loved the original and think this one will be great too, I’m just saying you shouldn’t blindly praise daddy Nintendo for the privilege of giving them more money.
I'm not either. I haven't bought a Nintendo game in decades but just eat the cost or wait until you can buy the game used and STFU.

$70 is nothing. All you piss babies crying about it amuses because back in the day with fucking cartridges some of them would cost $70 brand new.

If it's $70 and you get some free DLC then that's fine. Quit crying that you have to pay $10 more for your consoomer bullshit.
There's something massively retarded about ridiculing people for complaining about price hikes while also calling them consoomers.

You're still going to buy it day 1 and you know you will. So yes, I am justified in ridiculing all of you.
I'm literally the guy who has been getting shit for saying I'm not going to buy it because it doesn't look good since before the fucking price hike.

But hey, keep going with this projection. It's really doing you wonders.

hey here's a fun idea
maybe we should stop engaging with people like this so that actual discussion of the subject matter can take place
as opposed to continuing to fling shit at retards whose stated purpose for posting in any given thread is to start shit instead of actually contribute to any civil discussion

Fuck you and your reasonable ideas

Why is everyone sperging about Zelda when Advance Wars is coming out next month?

The fact it's actually an american remake of a japanese game, and exclusively for the western market, makes me rather distraught.
I'm more looking forward to the first volume of Ys Memoire (Oath of Felghana) in April, as an excuse to finally play it, alongside of Buccanyar (fantasy naval game).

Fair enough. Trails to Azure also comes out this month, so there's plenty of good stuff coming for Switch now.

Advance Wars looks like shit, honestly
There's just something off about the art. Like, it's way too smooth and clean, both in comparison to the subject matter (of the game; its tone) and the original's style. All of the animation also looks excessively tweened. It's like a robot was told to remake the game with every modern reboot cliche known to man and this came out.
>Hand-drawn/toyetic graphics (or, in this case, both- stylistic clashing be damned) replacing old spritework
>snarky title and/or box print that adds a very unsubtle nod to the fact that it's a reboot/remake somewhere in there multiple times not sure this is as common as the rest but it irritates me to no end
>not made by the original dev studio; instead, handed over to total newcomers to the franchise (in this case, Wayforward, a shovelware dev)
>scraps the vast majority of the original's UI for modern (blander) do-overs
>keeping the spirit of the series' design aesthetic alive at all is optional

whether it also has irritating little tweaks that make it being the definitive version debatable is yet to be seen, but knowing how remakes work there'll probably be at least a few.
I don't care much about Zelda, but I care even less about this remake. At least Zelda has a chance of being decent.

Like how people complained that $5 was too much for NES Virtual Console, and Nintendo responded by charging $8 for Vs. Super Mario Bros.
That's Hamster's price, consistent across all Arcade Archive games and the same on Gaystation. Lucky thing to have that specific version available for purchase with accurate emulation. Bonze Adventure is coming to AA on March 23. It is a very exciting game, somewhat similar to Ghosts 'n' Goblins, that is sure to be true to the original version and not ruined like the Advance Wars remakes are likely to be.

I don't get who the Advance Wars reboot is intended for. I just can't imagine someone who's never played one of the games seeing the reboot and not only getting excited for it, but staying excited for it after it was put back on the shelf because of World War III for a year, or however long it was. I mean, I'm sure they're out there; pedophiles do like that Cal Arts style and are braindead enough to not know how to into GBA emulation, but the last time Advance Wars had a drastic shift in aesthetics and tone was the last time there WAS an Advance Wars game.

Turn-based strategy on a grid where the focus isn't on character interactions and an epic story is also seemingly a very niche interest these days. It's not like Fire Emblem where it makes you feel like someone loves you and you make their numbers go up and fry your dopamine receptors. It's just strategy with the lightest of world and character dressing, unless they're writing something entirely new. Wayforward writing sucks, which is why their popular games all feature woman wearing revealing clothes

Is it for old fans who want to see a fresh take on the series, and possibly give another shot at exposure? Well, to me, these games look like 2000's 4Kids versions of games that I've been able to play on my phone for, like, 15 years. Sure, online multiplayer might be nice, but Advance Wars By Web exists, and the dorks who still give a shit about Advance Wars are on there already without needing to cough up a subscription fee for the privilege. You just play it and it looks like Advance Wars, and there's tournaments and ELO, and you're not forced to play matches in one sitting because of Nintendo's shitty servers.

but maybe none of it fucking matters and somehow the reboot will break the advance wars 9/11 curse

No, it's very necessary that we all spend pages arguing with Marissa Moira about stupid shit. Think about how unreadable the thread would be if that weren't the case.

Bullshit. Framerate and preferring one style over the other are one thing, but saying that there's no notable difference in styles is disingenuous or just ignorant.

I said the changes weren't THAT drastic, not that there was barely any changes made. You equated the changes to the character's designs to Cal Arts and I disagree with that statement. There's definitely a noticable difference when you put the two designs side by side (the characters are noticably more cartoon-y compared the to their somewhat realistic designs in the original games), but I wouldn't say it's on par with "Cal Arts".

The game itself, though is about the same. All they really did was makes almost everything more 3D and gave the 2D character sprites more visual flare.
