I know he's played video games (on stream, which is just sad) with his son in the past, but it's pretty much exactly what you said. He married a woman he wasn't willing to be in a long term relationship with, he wanted to leave Nebraska, and he wanted more and better sex. And since he's a scummy lefty who views the entirety of human existence and interrelations as fundamentally transactional, he thinks it's fine to abandon his son as long he pays the child support. It's not like many of his orbiters are dedicated parents, and the one or two who are good parents won't ever bring it up since it's a pretty nasty (though true) line of attack, so his kid isn't brought up much except as a foundation for hypotheticals in conversations (which, again, is just sad).
He supports his kid financially and visits him sometimes when he is traveling, that's pretty much it. When he was deciding to abandon him to move to LA he kept saying things like "I mean we'll always have discord" as if that's a suitable replacement for actually being involved in his life. It's so sad because it would actually be so easy for him to do. He has more than enough money to move to the school district where is son is currently at then rent a super high end apartment or even buy a fucking mansion for that matter. He could apply for 50/50 custody of his son then get him every other week. He could reduce the end time of his steams and instead of streaming 10 hours a day he would stream 5 hours a day with the majority of that time being when his son is in school anyways. He could get off at 5 and eat dinner with his son every afternoon, help him with homework, then take him to the movies or roller skating or for ice cream in the evenings. And if Melina really needed to be by the beach that bad, she's already apparently paying for a second apartment in Sweden and making $30k a month, she could sell that then easily rent a 1 bedroom somewhere on the coast and take extended vacations there. Hell, their relationship might even be better with some time apart.
