Just comparing Chantal to another former mukbanger and their nearly dead channel - Kashi Star, who is not a deathfat (in fact, the opposite) but has some eating disorder and decided to stop doing mukbangs for a variety of reasons. She also switched to a lot of lifestyle vlogging, which still included cooking because she eats pretty gross organic concoctions.

Star has over 300k subscribers with a few older videos sitting at 1 million views. She now averages less than 10k per video. Chantal is easily getting 3k-4k more views than her on recorded content. Chantal also strategically has kept up some of her old mukbang videos, with the most viewed (and still public) at half a million views.

I don't believe Star is broke. I don't believe she's not making any money from YouTube so unfortunately, I think Chantal probably does still bring in more than a minimum wage full time job still. Which is certainly not 10k a month, as she once claimed during her Nader days, but it's not enough to claim broke if that income is cash in hand. Until the CRA garnishes her wages, it'll be her money.

I don't think she's going to Tiktok for any financial reasons. She said it herself, she likes attention. YouTube and Instagram aren't "cool" platforms and both have strong algorithms to control how much exposure she can really obtain. Tiktok will broaden her exposure, she's just too deluded to realize most of the new attention will be negative. However, the numbers on the view counter will rise fast enough to get her dopamine hit. You can't do that on many other platforms because the algorithm is set against you and your shitty content.

I bet even if a lot of comments are negative, if the views are high enough, she will continue to use it, unlike Twitch. Chantal is far beyond money in her manic delusions - she needs attention. She will use the money to pay for the attention, but what she wants more than anything else is eyes on her. Food is very very high on her list, but if she can eat with others gawking at her, that's the real high.

Salah fulfills part of this because he is forced to be around her, take care of her needs, drive her around, locks her up so she's "safe" - she does nothing for him. LITERALLY nothing. A complete burden on his life.
