Disney Adults / Disneymania

Good villains mainly. No modern Disney villain can hold a candle to someone like Scar or Frollo or Gaston or Ratcliffe. Modern Disney villains (and honestly villains in children's media as a whole) just aren't very villainous, they don't have that one big moment or those multiple smaller moments where you get to glare at them on the screen and say "you bastard" to yourself, and the fact that many of them seem to be overcome by the Power of Friendship:tm: instead of getting a proper comeuppance or death like my previously mentioned examples all do really makes the conclusion fall flat.
The last decent Disney villain I recall was Turbo from ‘Wreck It Ralph’, though that film was unusually good as compared to much of the crap they had been churning out in previous years (anyone else remember ‘Mars Needs Moms’?). Iirc Turbo was a Tumblr sexyman for a while in the same vein as Frollo. In retrospect, chuckling at the whole sexyman phenomenon back in the day seems incredibly wholesome compared to nowadays with the crap I see on the SJW Art thread. It only gets worse, doesn’t it?

On a slightly off topic note in regards to ‘Wreck It Ralph’, I watched the sequel on a 9 hour plane ride a year or so ago. What were they thinking? The whole film played out like some corporate self pandering with the princess crap, while the main characters themselves are exceptionally unlikeable. You’ve got a grown ass man having an emotional meltdown because a 10 year old little girl isn’t hanging out with him enough…? And said 10 year old is doing exactly what the villain in the first film did that made him so evil…Why they didn’t bring Turbo back in some manner is also weird since he was apparently such a popular character in the fandom communities, especially since they were trying to pander to younger millennials with all the ‘memes’ and whatnot.

I rarely watch Disney these days, I still haven’t seen Frozen, or Encanto, or that one with the dead Mexicans, but I did enjoy Wreck It Ralph, and rarely do I complain about how badly a studio misses the mark with sequels, but damn that was grim.

I've never heard of this place before in my life.

I actually agree with this guy:
Those things look ugly and cheap, and remind me of old movies when the thing that was going to move was always less detailed and a different color than the background.

If you want a good comical musical tv show check out Galavant. It managed to get 2 seasons.

Embedded because I love this show, too:

one with the dead Mexicans
Even if you don't watch the film, this song is 💔

Late to the subject and a bit of a PL but I'm seeing the declining interest Gen Alpha has in Disney happen in real time. Kids just don't care. Owning Marvel and Star Wars is the biggest "in" Disney has with the young crowd right now.

My kid hates Disney. Not with vitriol, but he rolls his eyes and doesn't pay attention if any "classic" Disney title is on. I have zoomer nieces that loved Mickey Mouse Clubhouse when they were toddlers but he didn't even like that. Only Disney movie he's watched and enjoyed is Ron's Gone Wrong (recent release about a very thinly veiled Apple product with a very thinly veiled Steve Jobs as the villain, which I had to Google to make sure it even was Disney lol) and even that he watched maybe twice before he lost interest. All he says about Disney media is "it's boring".

Judging from the kids around here, especially boys, he's not alone. They like Minecraft, Minions, Super Mario, Pokémon, or Youtube personalities. Plenty of Marvel and Star Wars but when it comes to original Disney properties they're few and far between. You rarely, if ever see boys around here wearing a shirt with Mickey Mouse on it. Girls might still dress up as the classic princesses or have a princess backpack but they're pretty uncommon too. It's seen as "dumb" and "babyish."

In their bid to milk the emotionally stunted millennials for every penny, Disney's sanitized itself and cycled back around to being uncool with the new crowd. They're banking everything on nostalgia, and Gen Alpha just doesn't care. They want funny, cool, exciting stuff that they can feel like they can participate in. Marvel and Star Wars are appealing because they're action-packed while still being age appropriate, and it's easy to insert yourself into those worlds to play pretend.

Kids still enjoy the parks because kids enjoy fun rides, getting new toys, and eating junk all day. Take out all the licensed stuff and unless they reeeeally wanted a picture with Mickey Mouse and Cinderella they'd like WDW all the same. Unless you're banking on the typical "family trip to Disney" dream vacation or are a Disney Adult yourself, you'd do better to take your kid to a cheaper park, they'd enjoy themselves just as much.

tl;dr Gen Alpha doesn't care and it's gonna be interesting seeing how Disney's doing once they grow up and start having kids of their own.

Nigga their goal was always to make money. they don't care about gays beyond the money and social capital they obtain through pandering.
Agreed.

It's amazing how easy people forget Disney leaned right not too long ago. Specially on Tv. Many of their Disney Stars claimed to be "christians". Even South Park made fun of how purity rings were just a scam to sell sex to kids with Christian families.

Of course now that the pendulum swinged the other way, now they are all about wokeness, and the message. And all the supposed Christian Disney Channel stars have long jumped ship.

Their true loyalty has always been money.

They marketed more right leaning. But they've never been actually right wing. They were just like Hollywood. Full of sex, drugs, and trafficking.

Kids Incorporated (also known as Kids Inc.) is an American children's television program that began production in the mid-1980s and continued airing well into the early 1990s.
The pilot episode was shot on September 1, 1983, and the series aired in syndication from September 1, 1984, to May 25, 1986, and on the Disney Channel from November 3, 1986, to January 9, 1994.[1]

LOIGHTSABUR!

I can’t wait to sing this in the ranks of Null’s New Transnistrian Army.
Let's get down to business to defeat the Hons
They claim that they're daughters, but we know they're sons
They're the maldest bunch you'll ever meet
But you'll learn before we're through
Null hates when, we say "Don't pozload my neghole"

Yes I can totally see them swing to become more conservative when they realize the parks are full people who resemble people like Ethan Ralph, Chris, Cobra, Cyraxx, Chantal, Amber Lynn and Melinda. Good God that will a nightmare

The worst part about Disney hotels is that they don’t even look like exclusive hotels that you can sleep and stay in.
I don't know if they ever fixed the Polynesian since the last time I was there but the wood paneling just makes it look like a swinger's den and it just has a general pervasive smell of mildew.

Disney really sucks at hotels.

Found this, was it renovated?

Wealthier-than-me-kiwis, who doesn't suck at hotels? Anything worth the money?
