Russian Special Military Operation in the Ukraine - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

What is your opinion on this?
Interesting video. My quick thoughts on it are as follows:
  1. Says that anti-war protests were the result of rising energy costs. I wont deny that in some places like Germany that has been a factor but I really feel most of it has been motivated by genuine desire for peace and outrage at a war that many (including me) believe could have been avoided in a way that was best for all parties. This is an American war.
  2. He says at the end that assets stored in the West are regarded as "a little less safe" following seizures of Russian assets with no recourse to legality or due process but that "you're safe so long as you don't invade your neighbour which shouldn't be too hard". I think this is false. You're safe so long as you don't go against American hegemony. The US has attacked multiple countries without facing such sanctions and with far less justification that Russia's intervention in Donbas and Luhansk. Clearly it's not about invasion and more about US interests. Everybody knows that.
  3. A point that he could have made but didn't, is that the damage to Europe is self-inflicted. Russia hasn't used economic means aggressively towards Europe to anywhere near the degree that the West has against it. Russia would have been very willing to continue selling oil to Europe. Twas Europe that chose not to do this and the USA or a sponsored group which attacked the Nordstream pipelines to ensure that Europe HAD to choose that.
  4. He talks about GDP and the impact on it. This is almost always a danger sign. Yes, both Russia and the USA and Europe are suffering from damage from this war but Russia's fundamentals are far better. Nor are they a heavily service-based economy whose industrial capacity has been massively outsourced. Both have been burned, but the US and Europe are sitting on a bigger powder keg than Russia is.
  5. He talks about Europe and the USA as pretty much a single faction. When actually Europe's loss is the USA's gain as it's forced to buy oil from the USA and European industry relocates to the USA. He has a globalist mindset in viewing the "West" as one faction. In practice that's dangerous and hides real damage to Europe.
  6. Near the start of the video he talks about how Europe has successfully reduced its energy needs through new measures in industry, turning down the thermostate "one degree" and more efficient insulation. A drop in the ocean and factories running on reduced hours isn't a win because it uses less energy.
  7. Finally, some of what he says I would want to verify sources on. Feel they lean quite pro-Western. And I don't think his belief in a long-term economic cold war is viable. There are too many other players in the world now for that to be stable.
Nonetheless, an interesting presentation. Could do without Star Wars theme being played over pictures of tanks.

Excellent post, I won't quote it all apart from this bit. One thing people aren't mentioning with the sanctions and self-inflicted economic harm, is that not only have Russia faired better than Europe or USA, Russia will also be able to get back on its' feet quicker. They have no lost any industry or trade and all they need to do is point the oil wagons in the direction of Germany and let them drive.

The recovery for Europe will be a longer process, who will have to rely on Russia to get back on their feet, because Russia is one of the largest exporters of food in the world, second only to China/India (with the exception of Corn which is USA's only major food export).

On another subject, I have seen online sentiment change quite drastically over the past few days. I have seen people - who were 100% confident that Russia would lose, and any suggestion otherwise meant you were a Russia troll, now say that they "always knew Russia was going to take some land, but they haven't got...."

It's very frustrating dealing with people who have no thoughts, values or principals. Not only do they not learn from history or other people, they refuse to learn when they themselves are wrong. Nope, they move the goalposts and double-down.

Apropos of nothing, I'm glad Weeb stopped his brief flirtation with stupid meme thumbnails. Some people in comments questioned it and he said that a social influencer specialist had advised him to do them. If his friend were any good at anything, they wouldn't be a social influencer specialist.

I agree very much with both of your points. For the first, complex systems are often more fragile than less complex systems. And Western industry and economies are VERY complex. It's like booting a computer vs. starting a car. There are so many more things that are independent and have to all work in sequence. A Russians are perhaps the ultimate pragmatists, too.

Regards the second point, it's one of the most frustrating of things. Sometimes you can even catch people 'mid-update' as it were. I recall during early Covid making a comment to a colleague (very deliberately) about greedy pharmaceutical companies. Caught him right on the cusp between previous viewpoint of "Big Pharma Bad" and "they're saving us". Two days later, he had all his answers ready. You seen shows like John Oliver or Bill Maher - where they just cycle through a list of topics, bring it up, often in strawman form, make a snarky comment and give the expected answer, audience laughs and in under two minutes have moved onto the next? It's like prepping for a test. Here are the viewpoints you might be exposed to and here are the answers to give when confronted. The number of examples I could give of people going from "that's conspiracy theory" to "everybody knew that" almost overnight. After a point it no longer is frustrating and becomes instead, scary.

This becomes even funnier when you consider that the western world shit its' pants over Just-In-Time (a strategy in the Continuous Improvement warchest) yet ignores K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple stupid) and Poke Yoke (Kiss in japanese) which is the foundation of CI.

As a CI nerd, I always chuckle when I see systems become insanely complicated for convoluted and often unexplainable reasons.

I'll be honest, I've never seen the late night talk shows, though I've heard co-workers talk about them. When I hear the 'reel of news' and NPC talking points they come up with, I can always shoot them down (I don't, i keep it in my mind because what's the point?) because of how basic the reasoning is.

It's the same with this war. So many armchair analysts sit around and try and sound smarter than one other while huffing equal amounts of their own farts. Yet if you KISS and look at basic motivators you can pretty much accurately predict the direction things are going to go.

OT and PL but After COVID I can't look at people the same away again. I don't even engage with people anymore. I just think to myself "Never again let the question be asked "how could normal German people let the Nazis commit genocides?", because we have all seen the answer; easily".

German energy crisis some more. Galeria Kaufhof aka Karstadt is closing down half of their stores.
The Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof chain, which currently employs around 17,400 people across 97 German towns and cities, plans to close 52 of its current 129 stores, putting more than 4,000 jobs on the line, a statement from the company's employee council said on Monday.

In a letter to employees in November, the group's chief executive Miguel Mullenbach explained that the company needed to divest itself of branches that, due to rising inflation and energy costs, "would no longer be able to operate profitably in the near future". He said this was the only way to avoid the group's total financial collapse.

In my home town too. Not that I m big into some malls. But 4000 jobs thats quite a bit.

I guess this was the flightpath of the drone.

If you are sending F-16s, why not just send a manned spy plane? The drone kinda looses its point once you give it non-drone escorts.

Well someone made these memes to shill for the hohols in this /pol/ thread.

Problem for the EU and its future or lack of it is. I think I best summed it up previously.
cheap energy and raw materials drives technology and production to a sever degree. Who has the best access to energy, and resources in terms of volumes and price, wins in the long term. And EU paying 3 to 5 times for "Freedom" gas kind of makes EU fucked long term.

There is absolutely no chance that EU will compete with the US and China long term. Never mind rest of Asia. Which will be eating EU's market in every sector. Not to mention Russia finally puling it's head out of it's ass and is finally becoming and will be becoming competitive in various sectors.

The best option for EU was. To do nothing. Ukraine or the Mericans called. Just tell them you're on vacation. Until this entire mess blew over.

JIT is great for luxury goods, but basing your entire economy on it... well we all see what Covid did. Sometimes you need PUSH. Keep making that sugar and ammo, and it will sell. It is much better if it sits in a warehouse for a little time than if you run out of it.

They blame high energy prices for this? that company has been on life support for 2 decades with a couple of bailouts along the way.
Yeah just like the churches ...."a couple of bailouts along the way"...thats why they relocate the visitors to some beer halls...cant afford the heating bills...

I wonder how the saunas and swimming pools are doing?

Well Tucker came out with another monologue dedicated to Jewkraine.

MSNBC probably does make people of non mainstream ideologies very hard, whenever they claim Trump and Tucker and DeSantis want America to be like Russia with no faggots and niggers and its all Christian.

Also YAS KWEEN sat down with the wife of the Kike of Keef to claim something about hoholina babuskhas hitting mini drones with jars of tomatoes.

The folks at The Donald made a meme in response.

The Russian MoD released footage of the drone.

Found some story on Poast that claims this lol from the Moscow Times.

The memes coming out about the pilot taking down the drone are fantastic.

Is this ironic or genuine, I honestly can't tell
With /pol/ you can honestly never tell if its a shill, bot, schizo or joke. This war has revealed a lot of really disturbed people on /pol/, and even here that just fetishize violence and suffering, instantly derailing any discussion on the war, almost every single forum has to banish these people to their own pro-Ukraine thread, where they immediately lose their fucking minds and have to break rules, immediately jumping onto the "pro-russia" threads to start their shit up again before they're banned. Its like they have a mandate to spread their diseased mental miasma around.

I've followed a lot of wars over the past 20 years and I have never seen such bizarre conduct. The "pro-Ukraine" camp just tends to be fucked up in a way that I never saw from literal fucking jihadist groups during the Arab Spring - ISIS years.

When you check out the #NAFO tag on Twitter and see that every single last one of the holhol simps are literally trannies this stops being surprising. This is the universal troon internet mandate, they all act the same.

Alternative example are the accounts that post on r/Ukraine r/NonCredibleDefense on reddit - prepare your eyes for the grossest stinky pedophile troons you've ever seen. Every single one.

Massive counter attack with new NATO wunderwaffe has gone from 100% to only 1% in a couple of days.

But not to worry Ukraine is launching massive pushes along the south and will soon be washing their socks in the Black Sea
