I reckon the therapist said that because they knew damn well that “don’t make permanent alterations to your body now because you’re too young and inexperienced to understand long-term consequences” will be ignored.

My sympathy for detransitioners is tempered by knowing how they react to being challenged when they're trying to troon out. There's a massive dereliction of duty by medical professionals, sure - but this one is being brutally honest about what is a very routine outcome, and the troon immediately goes to a hugbox for the comforting lies instead.

I support them the same way I support anyone escaping a cult and de-cowing themselves, but detransitioners haven't all been led, Pied Piper-style, into surgeries and hormones. Some of them really were told all the risks and consequences but follow their delusion instead, and I feel like all of them, even the ones most deserving of sympathy, underplay how receptive they would have been to any pushback or safeguards that didn't give them what they want when they wanted it.

We've seen far too many of these types whining about the idea of 'withholding gender-affirming care kills trans kids' for me to believe that most of them wouldn't just become more set on this idiocy despite the risks being hammered home. Let alone that they've already been fighting against any law that could forcibly prevent them from such decisions.

I wish detransitioners all the success in getting even a few of those responsible for the troon-industrial complex into serious legal trouble. Many of them were legitimately lied to. But all these L's are from people who you can certain would be REEEEEEEEing all over the internet if, before they'd done irreversible things to their bodies, someone with any authority, especially a parent, had tried to stop them, or even warn them.

Still, better to finally break out of the mindset than be one of the ones you can see losing any sense of gender euphoria but still unwilling to think that, no, the rest of the world isn't wrong, you're just fucked up. But then, emotionally mature troon is an oxymoron...
