I've touched on this before but hopefully I can squash the whole life insurance conversation for good. Screenshots below for reference.

In short, even if Chantal could find a Canadian company willing to insure her with her health problems and family history (she can't), there is a 24 month contestability period where the insurer can delay payout while they do their due diligence to make sure the insured wasn't misrepresenting their insurability, which she most certainly is.

If all of that was not a factor and she had a perfectly legitimate policy in force, you can name anyone as a beneficiary, even if they don't live in Canada and even if they're not related to you. Although, there is a blurb in there somewhere about the beneficiary needing to have an "insurable interest" in you, meaning they will be affected financially or emotionally by your death, which Salah would not be.

However, the A-#1 document that you need to collect the death benefit is a death certificate which is addressed in my final screenshot from the Kuwaiti government. The top bullet point on the Kuwait screenshot is that "One of the heirs must attend the procedures" and to the best of my knowledge, there is no one in Kuwait that they would consider as one of her heirs. Plus, she would need a civil ID which I think she never proved she has. Salah would have to contract the Canadian consulate in Kuwait before issuing a death certificate and they would then notify the Canadian government and the CRS. I did come across some sites that go into long, boring wishy-washy suppositions about whether the CRS can garnish life insurance benefits - one of you other savants can figure that shit out. It makes my head hurt.

Anywho, there are so many barriers to obtaining/maintaining/collecting on a life insurance policy in their situation that it would be counter-productive to whatever their fucked-up end goal is.

The financial info posted above was interesting. It was not about Chinny, it was about Salah. He needs 650 dinar a month to stay in country. Chantal was probably his method of ensuring he had that since he seems as allergic to work as Peetz is. Her income dropping to low could put him in a position of being sent to Syria. If her income stays low by the time her visa expires, he may just send her back to Canada instead of Bahrain -he can’t afford to feed her for long and stiff have the necessary income that Kuwait wants to see.

I just realized that this was how Chantal's almost atheism died a year ago. She found God in the sea water at an old folks' resort in Cuba. Gonna autistically sperg here for a moment, but by far the most annoying part of this arc has been all the side characters, haydurs, and reaction channels talking about SUPER DUPER SECRET information they can't reveal.

Not one person claiming to have "insider" information has come through with anything. I trust nothing unless it comes through here and is verified by a mod, to be honest.
