General Wrestling Discussion

Josh Alexander has had to relinquish the Impact World Title - triceps tear that’ll require surgery. So we’re getting Steve Maclin vs Kushida for the vacant title, and honestly that one could go either way

I’ll take that over another Interim World Title, or another Tournament - AEW ran both of those into the ground, huh…

Hogan was right though. Booker T was never going to be over except when he was part of Harlem Heat. No matter how hard the WWE tries to convince us otherwise.

Booker was over as shit on his own back in 98. If anything, Harlem Heat did him more harm than good at that point in time. Especially when the Harlem Heat 2000 trash fire came around.

How could you think he is coming back after that. He’s most likely NOT coming back.
He is coming back. This reeks of Jericho and Moxley running a hail Mary play with Meltzer's help, to nuke the Tony/Punk relationship now that Omega's shown himself to not be a draw (his Vikingo match was a masturbatory debacle and failed to get a milly), meaning that Punk now has a much better bargaining posture.

Would not be shocked if Moxley's gone into business for himself since (as was the case in early 2000s WWE with the Undertaker and HHH), Jericho's convinced Moxley that they can run AEW as their own personal fiefdom ala Undertaker/HHH and WWE when Rock and Austin went away now that Omega and the Bucks are probably gone at the end of the year. The only barrier is Punk, especially since Moxley's probably realizing it will be him and his clique that gets their screen time reduced if Tony has to create the CM Punk universe for him and FTR to have adventures in.

You’re a bigger retard than Cornette.

I still remember going nuts when he won the title. You could tell Booker T was on the path to the title. I still have a soft spot for his feud with Steiner as well.

QTV is AIDS and it has ruined Hobbs before he could even get going.

EDIT: In "Where's Miro?" news: apparently he's been in Bulgaria for the past month. There were talks about bringing him in to work a battle royale after Full Gear, but as of now it's back to the old Tony Khan playbook of losing talents phone numbers when you don't want to talk to them.

So Sky Blue was booked to go over Lady Frost after being dominated throughout the the match and looking sloppy as shit. Just because you like to get blacked doesn't mean their athletic talents will be transferred to you. Mark Briscoes family was at the show. Usually I see kids at wrestling evens happy but his don't look too pleased. Billie Starks match was good though so at least one female match was worth watching. Her Starks driver isn't bad as it looks like she has the strength to help her opponents out with the move. Hope she keeps strength training as you can easily botch that. Main Event didn't feel like a main event. Other than the Skye Blue match this ROH was better than last weeks. Some okay promos, interview with Kingston and Claudio was good but feels like their old respect match thing they had going on over a decade ago.
Over on AEW. Looks like Jericho's new five month feud that should end in a month but no one wants to reign Chris is will be against the House of Black as Anna Jay is back and attacked Julia Hart.

Also, like a bitch CM Punk deleted his Instagram post. Should be noted that his bullshit about taking his health first is well bullshit. He would do it if he was offered more money, which he was.
Dax also thinks CM Punk wants to apologize for his actions last year. CM Punk isn't known for apologizing to anyone and blames everything that has gone on in his life on others. It's been that way for twenty years. Dax seems to think he's Punks friend too not realising Punk has no friends. They're just a means to an end. Once you've outlived your usefulness you're tossed aside.

King Bookah was some good shit from what I remember.
Wasn't this the angle where a few black wrestlers acted all indignant over Booker acting like a legit member of royalty instead of a stereotypical black guy?

It did give us this forced but nice piece.

It's also amazing how most folks nowadays are seeing 2000's WWE with nostalgia, when back then people were loudly complaining about the product.

Sucks that Lady Frost keeps getting done dirty like that. I remember her getting signed with Impact last year and the few matches I saw of her were really good, and they appeared to make a big deal of getting her, even Gail Kim showed up, but then she disappeared after Masha started getting pushed. Wonder what happened.

... sigh.

Jesus, Dax's in for a very, very rude awakening. It's gonna be fucking hilarious. :story:

At least Frost showcased what she could do, but the win was just terrible. She should have made some major mistake allowing for either a rollup or something. Not the babyface getting a shitty looking comeback victory that didn't look believable at all. Billie and her should have had the match instead. A young rising star with huge upside verse a vet is a better match when Billie beats her. After all, they put over how she's Jay's age when he started in ROH.

I just wanna say I really wish I had the time to make a proving grounds thread on Tony Khan. With the shit that manchild posts on twitter alone, he more than deserves it.
I wish he would just hire someone acclimated to the business that could book and manage the talent. He absolutely sucks because he cucks out and drinks bottles of water like he’s sucking a dick

I think the problem with AEW's women's division is that they try to do to much, and no one is watching women's wrestling for complex reversals and flippy flips. But thats what they keep trying to do while also booking the women that no one cares about. Let me give you an example of someone that does it better. Because of @XYZpdq Jr. I've been watching more old Triple A recently, and in doing so I stumbled upon Lady Maravilla vs Big Mami. Is it not a pretty match, but by gawd the crowd boos every cheating, underhanded move by the rudo, and Big Mami is getting cheered for every bodyslam and clothesline she pulls off when she isn't being triple teamed by the heels. AEW insists on being a workrate company, even in their women's division, which is pants on head retarded. Willow Nightingale is ridiculously over for a woman, but instead of featuring her, we get The Mid Event Mafia skanking up the women's slot.
yeah Big Mami is fucking dimes, and good audio of a good lucha crowd is an easy star and a half extra

But yeah Tony Khantana is seriously a piece of work.
What struck me in particular was when Vikingo debuted on Notro, and Tony starts interacting with cubsfan (basically meltz to english language lucha nerds) and it's over some stupid shit about declaring people to be bots. Not like something respectable as a company head like "gosh it's great you've helped to make Hijo Del Vikingo known in the USA, and I sure hope all your followers join us for the next exciting chapter of his career!"
It "reeeeeeee people in twitter are bots reeeeeeee"

I havent watched any wrestling since about 2000, maybe 2001.

I take everything Mirror says as fact, and I pretend to some of my wifes friends I watch wrestling and just adopt his talking points as my own. Sometimes I tell them "you gotta love the codester though, thats a given". Never seen a single Cody Rhodes match. Never seen a John Cena match either for that matter, but I used to just argue the reverse of whatever they said about him. But I just spout utter shit mirror puts on here as truth. They think I am some sort of connected insider.

Try it, its fun.

But did you see Cena in Ready To Rumble?
