So if you downloaded a RAT on a laptop and there were other computers or devices on the same wifi network for several days wouldn't the RAT owner have access to those devices also?
There has to be some kind of connection to exploit between them to allow file transfer and execution for that to work, which I don't believe sharing a Wi-Fi connection has that level of access. I think they literally just stuck a RAT and chromestealer into a minecraft mod and made it execute when you loaded into the server, so it wasn't on any level of sophistication. Literally anyone could do this, it's more of a social engineering attack then a technical one.

It wasn't unsophisticated social engineering.

The person who sent the file to Claire looks to have spent weeks integrating into Claire's Minecraft server group, and they embedded the RAT is a very common mod file that is included with legitimate modpacks everywhere. The only telltale was the file size, or going into the script of that mod and noting the encrypted script. A prior analysis called out an ASCII substitution encryption iirc.

People who shit on Claire over this are often missing some of the key elements of what occurred. Your virus scanner won't catch a malicious script that was encrypted that way, that's why people encrypt them. If you're downloading modpacks, even from reputable sites, and you aren't visually scanning the scripts (wtf really does that?) you're vulnerable the exact same way. Even some of the reputable sites only find malware when it blows up on someone, especially when it's been hidden in a standard, ubiquitous little script that your eyes naturally just skim over on the list.

Claire might be a lot of things, but she was also targeted in a malicious attack that required a lot of effort to execute. I'm more than a little curious on motive.

FTR, I don't know Claire, wasn't involved in chudbuds and showed up when the fireworks started. Cuz who doesn't like a trash fire?

What's there to be curious about? She was trying to be a direct competitor to poast and being heavy on the gym simping/branding is like dangling meat in front of every autist internet darklord wannabe with oedipal impulses towards their gay e-daddy. Bitch was in over her head, plain and simple.

That said I have a hard time believing someone so terrible at InfoSec is part of that group, the GayOps during the Bella shit were fucking Clancy-tier.
I tried to comprehend the Bella dox diagram in her OP a couple of times when I first started reading KF. Anyone considering gay ops should take a look at it to understand what they may be letting themselves in for in an extreme situation.

I havent seen anyone say this. And I sure as hell didnt. The hate I was getting was for defending her by saying the retort of "she should be raising her kids" is a non-argument.
Hey dumbass here's a quote from her own husband
<2023-02-03T19:49:21.256Z> RuRu: Claire has had moments she's spent more time on Mack or Denny than our kids, and that's a harsh realization we had to discuss this morning

It was impressive to watch it come together from the nosebleed seats.
Bella made the mistake of thinking she was smarter than she was and aggravating enough competent people that they pulled out all the stops.
I've never got people who get too invested and try to act like fucking they're the Cardinal of the Kremlin over meaningless Internet shit, they get so caught up in it they forget it's supposed to just be fun.
When you start thinking it's anything other than that and making it your entire focus is when you should seriously think about logging off.
As a general rule you shouldn't trust anyone or anything you see online.
Real life is complicated enough without turning Internet drama into a fucking John le Carre novel and making yourself the protagonist.

It's definitely a stupid way to live, but then it's not that hard to see why autists with boring depressing dead end lives would want to live out their fantasy of being agent 00speden online. Incels are a popular boogeyman of this dying gay 21st century society but it's really random spergs with a boner for spy novels and no irl outlet for it who do more dirt online; it's not Elliot Rodger they should be worried about as a dangerous ideological vector, but James Ellroy, John le Carre, and Tom Clancy. With all the attention on sex (or the lack thereof) as a motive, everyone forgets that the idea of adventure and intrigue is just as seductive.

I mean technically it wasn't sophisticated, just don't be a retard and run random shit and you're fine. The social engineering was sophisticated maybe but I don't know the details of that, but all it really takes to not get hacked this way is awareness of these kinds of attacks. Anyone who works in technology should know not to do things like this and you get opsec training that teaches you this in many jobs that are related to the government, but it only takes one mistake when you're feeling tired or a little retarded that day. Claire can be given a pass for this because she's just a random retard who shouldn't be trusted to hold any information.

Look, I feel bad for Claire, it's not right for people to hack your personal shit as a result of online drama, just like it wasn't right when it happened to Ralph. Running a random executable some random sent you isn't quite as bad as showing your password on stream, but it's only a few steps above it. I will give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she at least virus scanned the zip and it came up clean before getting fooled into running it. She was clearly in over her head running the site and, to her credit, it looks like she realized as such and was trying to pass the site to anyone who would take it. That said, I will admit to being a little puzzled why she was confused why a social media site filled with large numbers of people with late stage Jimwalking syndrome had severe moderation issues. Of course half of these people are certifiable.

She should have just shut the thing down and focused on the streaming. Her streams were actually not bad, they were well-researched and in particular the streams on Rekieta and Rekieta's response to them I will miss since it was hilarious.

I really, really, really, don't get the point of a lawsuit. I don't know if that super chat to Null was real or not, but if anyone is whispering in her ear about how she potentially has a case against Ralph, she needs to forget about it. The only reason I can think of suggesting such a course of action is to try to use Claire as a battering ram against Ralph. There doesn't seem to be much of a case. There is zero evidence I'm aware of that Ralph was the hacker. There is zero evidence that I'm aware of that Ralph was involved in a conspiracy to hack any of Claire's accounts or that he directed anyone to do so. In the unlikely event Ralph was found civilly liable, the amount of any judgment he would actually pay would probably be $0.

Claire probably has enough to get a restraining order on Ralph to protect her and her family from harassment, but I don't think any harassment would really occur for as long as she was in a state of DFE. If her reactivation of her Twitter account is a signal that she actually does want to come back and make some sort of content, I would recommend focusing on people like Rekieta who have enough of a moral compass to not use the hacked material in the way that Ralph did and will again if she actually sues.

>sophisticated social engineering
>super complicated encryption and bleep bloops
>it could happen to anyone

Not really. If you cover yourself in shit for months, get doxed, find yourself the victim of multiple swattings, do gay ops, attract some kind of autistic rogues gallery of enemies, do you really click the mediafire link from the nice person you met in discord a few weeks ago? Holy fuck. Don't install shit that people send you. It doesn't matter how complicated the malware was or wasn't. It still required someone to install shit from a random person.

A random person that showed up to help you with a project and you interacted with a fair bit.

Claire made many mistakes. But that particular one is not as brain-dead obvious as it looks in hindsight.

Hosting a server on the same machine as your social media instance, without separation from your personal computer, that's a big one. But the actual mod and the way it was passed to her were well-executed and planned. I suspect they got more from it than they expected.

The Vickers family is using this incident to fuck with Ralph, Claire is merely a pawn in their schemes.

You say this like it was a work project or a couple of old biddies helping each other put together a church sale.

There are people on here that I have been talking to for like 3 years and have worked with to put threads together but I sure as shit ain't clicking any rando downloads from them. Sorry guys.
