How about this:
They're probably not shitty, but I do feel like the Holiday themed photos printed on magnets, ornaments and cards are kind of tacky. Unless you're getting photos of your own pets, these feel totally unnecessary.

Meanwhile, most of the reviews and customer photos have all been praising the paintings with the photos taken of the little artists. That to me genuinely seem like a wholesome (and in my opinion far superior) gift.

I found the artists' manager's YouTube channel.
She seems very dedicated, and it looks like each of her rats is its own pico-celebrity or else I don't understand the market for glamour rat photos.

I've been following Shadow the Rat for years. She's one of my favourite YT people of all times. She also had a FB but that was hijacked and she couldn't get it back. She started another but it's still comparatively small.

This is Bean. She was such a gorgeous little girl.


@Burning Fanatic I actually bought a bundle of rat themed greeting cards a ways back and I've been taking great pleasure in handing them out! :biggrin: Getting a card from a newsagent or whatever just feels so performative and hollow, so I really like being able to give little artworks you can put up on the wall. Mine are a collection from various different Etsy artists. However, my favourite rat artist overall is WolfySilver. She does paintings and media of a lot of different animals, but her ratties are the best.

These are probably for people who are already fans of Shadow the Rat and her rats.

Personally, I love her and would consider buying one of her small rat paintings. Her rats are very cute and well-trained.

Well like I said, I don't think the cards themselves are shitty. I just think the paintings (with photos) were a far better gift to give to someone. But then again, I suppose I may be comparing apples to oranges as one's a set of cards for the holidays, while the other is a more personal gift to give to someone.

Still, I'm glad that this thread has brought more awareness. They seem pretty swell.
