The core of the problem would have been her incapability of living independently and supporting herself. It wasn't about living in Nashville, it was about still living at home with mom and dad at 28.
Most trannies and gender specials don't end up being very happy in NYC or SanFran only because they are a dime a dozen, and the competitions for uniqueness is too intense. In smaller cities they at least can find a niche of others that think they are "outsiders" and so different from the rest and tend to have friends and a better social circle all bonding on a perceived outsider status. They like to be the small minority of purple haired enlightened beings. Not sure if Audrey had this or not, but why was she still living at home with religious parents if they weren't supportive of her "trans identity"? She wasn't 14, she was 28. Was she incapable of working?
Audrey was 28, never employed that we know about, besides hanging a shingle on online profiles as a graphic designer. Most of the girls she went to middle school or high school with would have graduated college. living independently, working and probably getting married and starting families by now. In the Tennessee I'm sure some of the more religious girls she went to school with already had husbands and a few kids at 28. But unlike lets say NYC or SF where some people might still live at home at that age just due to the housing cost, most twenty-somethings in the south have no problem moving out and getting places of their own.
At 28 Audrey was still living at home, drawing cartoons and seeing a therapist for an "emotional disorder." I'd bet she had very little paid work of any sort. I wonder if she had any IRL friends. The fact that she texted a religious friend from her Middle School sports days about her impending "suicide" points to a lack of new friends as an adult or having a new group of gender-special friends.
I mean we might discover she had some Carrie type controlling mom who made her miserable and crazy.
But looking at her brother I doubt this is the case.
