i think he didnt realize how much this would spiral out of control. he was very dismissive of the impact in the first TS and after the second announcement he realized he had dug himself way too deep. going back on what he said would piss off anisa without gaining much sympathy from the fans. also hes referenced texts from anisa to froggy several times so hes absolutely been swallowing their loads behind the scenes.
