Im not going to argue her patreon money for nothing isnt thanks to gamergate but i would argue that the amount she actually recieves is inflated by the SJW circle jerk and she looses a chunk supporting all her buddies patreons.
And sure she makes the occasional chump change public speaking but thats balanced against her travel expenses.
A lot of the conferences she attends are where speakers "pay" to attend, they are basically ego rub scams.

I sometimes wonder if they rent that flat for a backdrop, get together to stage some photos from time to time, and then go back to completely different and separate lives somewhere else. Then the meds kick in and I think about other things.

Actually that was a rather badly aimed and not really thought out pun at the badshit crazy black and white worldview some SJWs have.

A sentence like "Muslims are the real victims of Islamic terrorism" is neither right or wrong, its just stupid. Statements like this only make sense in a world without gradients, where G.I. Joe fights Cobra and there is a clear good and a clear bad, where you don't have to ask yourself if inaction is a bad thing. Are there Muslims that are the victims of Islamic terrorism? Yes. Are there Muslims that could and should speak up more? Yes. Are there Muslims that put their life in danger because they fight terrorism? Yes. Are there Muslims that cheer for the terrorists? Yes. You can continue that ad nauseam.

Besides, wasting your time determining who has been hurt most by a crime has never solved anything.

We have some numbers to put to that. The majority of Wu's donators are 1-2 dollar donations. Her legitimate supporters disappear in gurgles whenever she spergs out, and she reinforces the patreon to dip it above a certain level (usually around $1900) whenever the numbers trend too low. We also know from Randi Harper (of all people) that Wu also backs people who, in turn, back her own Patreon, resulting in a circle of donations. Now, unlike Nora, we can't say currently how many donators and of what tiers Wu's supporters are because she hid that information, and thus we can't get a breakdown of hers like Nora's, but given what we know currently, odds are good that once everything is boiled away - the self-backings and the circular backings - the take-home on her Patreon is a fraction of what it looks like.

She didn't quite "leave" FemFreq per se, but she's been essentially forced to take it a different direction by simple virtue of crybully virtue signalling not working all that much these days with the mainstream press, because increasingly few people give a shit and she fucked over her own credibility with it. This led to Sarkeesian trying to leave games criticism entirely. That's what I was referring to, and I should have been clearer. Anita's not there yet, but she's worn out her welcome and needs some new venue to exploit for easy money.

This is where things get weirder (and funnier), if you're interested in the whole burgeoning trainwreck that is FemFreq.

Spoiler: Tangled Webs and Cuckoldry

Rumors of Johnathan McIntosh and Anita Sarkeesian being romantically involved have been going around since 2013, and there's been surprising amounts of evidence to support that theory, especially given that they knew one another for years and McIntosh basically ran her Twitter account for a while. Around 15 months ago, there was reports that Anita had dumped him, and it was purportedly because McIntosh had gone completely off the rails with that whole "openly racist" thing a few times, earning himself a reputation as an idiot and crank that wasn't worth engaging with, and at this point Anita sort of had him drummed from it. His profiles indicate this as well, linking to his blog platform and not to any affiliated site - meaning that Anita basically took his creation and ran.



Problem: All evidence indicates that McIntosh was the one who was good with handling all the background stuff - the finances, the information-gathering, and so on. Once she dumped McIntosh, there is a distinctive quality drop in both her research and her overall production values, and without McIntosh's ability to grease the wheels, Sarkeesian was desperate to get more money to replace him. That would be the reason behind that massive crowdfunding campaign she had that ultimately was funded primarily by her high-profile friends. Johnathan McIntosh can't even really complain without facing further blastback from the monster he himself created.

Their influence has been waning for a while, is what I'm getting at here. And if you add my usual control group....

There's a reason for this. Losing the year-and-a-half-long advertisement for Autism awareness that was Gamergate cost those in its opposition enormous amounts of capital, both in terms of credibility and influence. The spergs in Gamergate had nothing to lose by going for the jugular, and so they did, and in so doing, Feminist Frequency wound up inevitably tarnishing its own reputation, over and over as the Internet Autism Machine makes like it always does and chronicles every fucking thing.

And so, like all the losers of the last great Internet War, they wound up falling from relevance.

If you look at Feminist Frequency now, it's basically identical to every other form of Neoprogressive games coverage out there with absolutely nothing to distinguish it from every goddamned example of press coverage from the same gaggle of unpleasant fucks except the celebridom of the head of it. Same arguments, same talking points, same inability to update more than eight times in the span of a year, and nothing to set it apart from the others. None of her site's posts in the last year have had any comments, not even committal shouts of support. Feminist Frequency's Twitter hasn't covered games at all since E3.

Funny tidbit about this whole writing the Boston Globe thing - the Boston Police Dept is pretty much universally hailed for consistently deescalating potentially violent situations/confrontations without using dangerous tactics, no matter what skin color the perp or the cop have. Boston gets a fair rap about racial issues it has not addressed or ones in its past but the police department there is top notch.

You'd expect someone who claims to live in Boston to actually know this. Maybe the optics change when you are living in the lily white suburb of Arlington.
