The quote in the example works because they took one single syllable word and replaced it with another. Fatrick added a two syllable word to an intentionally succinct sentence. How fat of him. It’s probably the only quote he can remember. (Not to harp on this.)

Edit: actually the second go around was worse. In less than an hour later he fucked up and said "bought a ticket ON the Titanic" which makes less sense. He must've been thoroughly through his Hooligan's routine by then.
 
On the one hand, the indictment of Trump, and the crowing of individuals like Pelosi saying he must prove his innocence, makes this a dark day for American justice.

On the other hand, it'll keep Patrick occupied long enough for Quasi to get his debt collector's rears in gear.

Pat's trying a classic misdirection tactic. The fact is, the Titanic never hit an iceberg at all.

In truth, Patrick was on vacation that April. Rather than an iceberg, the unfortunate cruise liner ran into Patrick's colossal corpulent form while he was wading in the Atlantic, the trip paid for using Quasi's money. He was insulated from the frigid ocean waters by means of his many, many layers of blubber. His writer friends in the newspaper industry came up with the iceberg story as a cover.

Don't let Patrick get away with another of his lies. The blood from those 1,500 ill-fated passengers is on his ham-like hands.

Yeah, that Titanic zinger doesn't work, does it? Are we sure Fatrick is a real writer? "A rat swimming towards a sinking ship" might work better as a catch-all political nautical metaphor, but I suspect he wants the Titanic connection for whatever drunk reason?
