What's the point of an ARG where you have a fucking prologue telling everyone its a horror ARG with trigger warnings and everything? Way to smash any chance of immersion from the start.

I didn't watch Nightmind's video, but so far the story sounds like a small horror game called Anatomy.
It's a short game, but it's very effective and atmospheric. Someone smarter could probably argue it's analog horror, given the use of the casette tapes.
It likens houses to people in a literal sense, and the house in the game is hungry, starving even. So it eats you.

Oh shit, that actually looks pretty fun. I'd be lying if I said I didn't click on it expecting a laugh though, all the cringe ARG offerings in this thread had me like, "Really? Zoomers are scared of the stoned house meme now?"

Even less plot. No dead person, just the concept of a house being hungry for an inhabitant.
It sounds cheesy, but the atmosphere is great in the game. It has the same vibe as the movie Skinamarink, when the windows and doors disappear.

Around 2005 there was this, I suppose it'd count as an ARG, called Dionaea House. It was this fiction told through several blogs belonging to different, seemingly unrelated characters and such. It was pretty well done, and a really nice early example of this kind of Internet fiction.
Anyway, I mention it because it was about a mysterious house and the people who appear to have changed after spending time in it. Without going into much detail, but as the title suggest, the house is an entity that acts as a "venus flytrap" but for people, and uses them as "meat puppets" to attract more. I remember it was gonna be made into a movie, but it seems it never happened.
I'm bringing it up because, I don't know, I guess it's a good example of the concept and it's something these channels would be discussing if they'd been around back then, or if it was done today.
Edit: should point out, if you wanna give it a read, check the TV tropes article, it has all the links or archives. Sucks to go there, but it's more convenient than hunting the links down separately.

Thoughts on the upcoming backrooms movie? I'm choosing to be optimistic and hoping it'll be a mix-up of The Blair Witch and Skinamarink vibes. I could definitely watch a two hour long movie about some guy just wandering around the backrooms, fingers crossed that it actually tries to stick to the original source instead of the "OMG ENTITY#22422 Is chasing me through level 76575, normally it would shove a firecracker up my ass and gouge my eyes out, but i lathered my nutsack in peanutbutter so I'll be teleported to level 6567644 instead!!!" That's not Nexpo, that's Nightmind.
I know both are not very good horror content creators. But honestly I'd rather watch Nexpo pause himself and dick suck reddit than hear Nightmind stroke his own ego. At the very least he sticks to scripted content and doesn't do parasocial shit like Nightmind. Like this video is just a fucking twitch stream.

The Kaine Pixel stuff is completely separate from the wikidot crap. He has a vision and has SOMETHING going on so a movie (or better yet short film) by him could be good. Still a dice roll, but I have a feeling if you like his youtube series then you would probably like the movie too.
On a side note, recently I felt masochistic and put on wikidot backrooms lore videos and it was worse than I can ever imagine. It felt like listening to a walkthough of a video game complete with list of pick ups, NPCs, enemies, and obtuse speed runner strategies to complete the level. It also doesn't help that they unironically use terms like no-clip and glitch while acting like sanity is a measurable stat. Also almond water is basically the cure all healing item apparently. Also most of the levels have WIFI because God forbid zoomers go without internet in their shitty horror fantasies.

I'm very concerned. I fear it's gonna be mega cringe.
As it has been mentioned, Kaine's stuff is separate from the hello kitty bullshit retardo cringe and I'd much prefer it if the movie just stuck to the former or even went with your idea. I'd love that.
But I fear they might fuck this somehow in some fashion. It's not the 2010s anymore so it's not gonna be Slender or Bye Bye Man levels of ass but I fear it's gonna be ass in some way regardless.
Like a bunch of new-age teenage brats or college coons surviving together and fleeing from le spoopy monsters.

In other news; not so new Shrouded Hand.
It's a bit different than his usual content. It's more freeform and without a script, except for the parts he read out loud. I don't mind it, it's very pleasant to listen to.
On the other hand, the story is horrific. A violent autist throws a kid off a building and subjects the poor kid to a lifetime of disabilities and learning how to do basic skills. Moreso the system fucking failed the autist. He had violent tendencies, he admitted to one of his handlers that he dreamt of murdering someone, and he googled if he'd escape prison because of his autism.
Said handler brought it up to the higher-ups and they were like "Nah, it's cool" which is fucking awful. Then new higher-ups took over and they were even more neglectful, letting the guy run around outside without supervision when initially was under strict surveillance before, noted to be a danger to himself and others.
What in the cocksucking fuck went wrong?

I don’t remember if Barely Sociable has been talked about much ITT, but I just binged a bunch of his vids. They aren’t bad, but his voice is a bit too deep IMO, like he’s putting it on when he’s already got a naturally deep voice. I also noticed that he has a penchant for pushing his idea of what happened with some of the mysteries he presents vs. the usual Youtuber “but anything could have happened so type what you think in the comments” thing they do.
Overall I liked his vids though, and it was a welcome reprieve from all the dumb not-scary ARG stuff that I’ve been trying to avoid.
