The X-Files Creator Teases Ryan Coogler’s Possible Involvement In Disney X-file - reboot New, More Diverse

Scully will be a troon, calling it now.

I have always loved The X-Files, I still do, even the 11th season. I will avoid this 100 %.

You mean the same show that ended up getting canceled for tarnishing H.P. Lovecraft’s legacy for the sake of “diversity”?

You forgot to mention it was an awful show. For me the only redeeming factor was Jurnee Smollet.

I'm fully ready for Jamal Mulder and Maria Scully.

Amazing the only thing Ryan Coogler has ever directed is capeshit and boxing films. They couldn't even get someone who was remotely interested in crime fiction.

“You just hate stories from members of minority groups” No, I hate the fact that they are rebooting shit that should be left alone. X-Files already had eleven fucking seasons. They are only doing this to renew the copyright to prevent it from becoming public domain.

This sounds like another one of their bullshit projects that will never happen. It's been "in development" for 3 years, and still doesn't even have anyone actually attached. Sounds like they're just doing the minimum to hold on to the rights.

Best case scenario, really.

You know, it could work, but not with Disney.

Mulder and Scully having to purposely spread misinformation, devalue statements of legitimate witnesses and fake their own sightings so they can debunk them, but then again, it's CURRENT YEAR

Scully will be a nigger, Mulder will be played by a soyboy and make MCU quips at every chance.

Fight the future indeed.

Without spoilers, did the 2016 and 2018 revivals offer any sort of decent conclusion? I know the original TV series ending was a head scratcher.
I thought some of the stand alone episodes from the revival were pretty good. However, the episodes Chris Carter wrote that were part of the ongoing conspiracy storyline were terrible. They make the original finale look good.

Fuck. Off.
X-Files is my favourite show and a woke reboot sell-out would break my heart. Hopefully this thing will end up discarded like that Star Trek Lower Decks-style adult cartoon they wanted to make some years ago.

If they wanted to continue X-Files without pissing and shitting over what made it great, they should just do a prequel show.

The Monster of the Week episodes where they look back at the history of the Mulder, Dales' Spender et al, were interesting. The unnatural (Baseball episode), Musings of a cigarette smoking man and 'Travelers' (Edward sker sicks up an alien) were all great episodes.

You could easily spin a series out set in 1950's America with all of the aesthetic. It solves the internet, tech and mobile-phone problem as well

I'm gonna call it, they're gonna make it like Rick & Morty. Like for christ's sake, they've already announced an animated X-Files sitcom.

The revival finale was so bad Gillian Anderson swore she'd never play the character again.

Mytharc spoiler: The aliens called off colonization because of global warming.

The episode where Reggie came back was probably the best, and he did get a decent conclusion, so just watch that one. The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat. It even tries to salvage the alien story line a little bit.

Rm9sbG93ZXJz was fun, too. Kind of like the early 90s techno-paranoia episodes, updated for the modern day (five years ago).

To be very fair, I think the character arcs of both Mulder and Scully is done, at this point.

They need a new duo to make the series stick for the new generation. Unfortunately, I can readily believe talent is extremely thin on the ground. Who can even replicate Mulder's credulous paranoia, and Scully's clinical smarts? They couldn't stick it for the final seasons of X-Files, and they certainly can't now. (Doggett, unfortunately, lack the innate charm of Mulder. Bimbo latina at the very end was horrific and a bad actor, and probably cratered the series as a whole.)
