Could be both. Could be infection based delirium like elderly people get and sends them nutso. It did that to my nan when she had sepsis before she died. Because it was so deeply intrenched it affected the other bodily systems. And her blood pressure was too low to give her the anti anxiety meds to quell the delirium. Which, on thinking, may be what has happened here.

legit *anything*, many levels below the severity of sepsis can make really old people delirious; especially when they are suffering something else combining to make them a bit extra fragile- hospitals are trained to recognise that an old patient who seems totally demented is not necessarily like that usually. It bodes so, so, so badly for all these troons futures.

Archived the post again with the more recent comments. She has a central line and has been getting antibiotics for 48 hours, and is complaining that "nothing is feeling much better." She does not seem to understand that doctors have to wait for cultures to grow.

She's mad that doctors are not removing the graft from her leg but we have seen this kind of thing again and again in this thread, doctors just want to stabilize post-SRS patients and get them out ASAP because they don't want to get involved in the surgical butchery.

Seriously this sucks. During lockdown I had a wound way smaller than hers (dumb accidental damage with necrosis due to COVID delays, needed a few rounds of surgical debridement and all the IV antibiotics) and I really struggled as a grown ass adult with a functioning brain. It was days and weeks of drs contradicting each other, meds (and food/water!) being withheld because of a surgery that may or may not happen that day and all the usual inpatient fun.
If I had been a retarded teenager I probably would have yanked my tubes and walked out just to get a sandwich and a drink of water.
And that would have made me dead.

I doubt she is living independently, but it also doesn't seem like the parents are caring for her or there at the hospital. The parents either live with her and completely don't care, or let her fuck off to get two major surgeries before 18, away from home. But they are super valid adults and they know their 'rights' and how dare abusive mom try to control them. Parents flip between fed up and desperately worried but don't dare to say anything or get involved because of tantrums and suicide threats. Add in a bad therapist and it's an almost impossible bind.
Traditionally we'd blame the parents for raising a brat in the first place but now discord is a thing and the cuckoo monsters are coaching each other in domination/manipulation tactics.

I am so used to seeing people munchie themselves into special corners but I can't fathom that she was admitted and given a central line unless there was something seriously wrong. (Powerlevel: I have had maybe 10 IVs but never a central line.) I was originally skeptical that she knew the difference between the ICU and the normal beds, but the central line part makes me think she really is in the ICU. Also, the original pix of the leg looked real fucky.

For the non-burgers, the ER (emergency room) does not want to admit you. Admitting you means keeping you in a bed overnight. You go to the ER for broken bones, severe cuts, car accidents, gunshots, high fevers, and so forth. If they think you can go home and not die, they will send you home. If they think you might die, they admit you. Broken leg? No. Heart attack? Yes.

Usual hospital beds are like 2-4 people in a room with a private bathroom. There are pull-back curtains between the beds for privacy. They're usually organized by complaint, so you get a room with another orthopedic patient or another person with a heart condition or whatever. It's a pretty standard hospital experience with nurses coming by once every few hours and various people wandering in and out. Want to get woken up at 6 AM by a fat Filipina wanting to take your blood pressure? This is the place for you. Want to share a room with three Boomers who think "Touched by an Angel" is peak TV? This is also the place for you.

The ICU (intensive care unit), on the other hand, is like 10 beds all in one room, with nurses up your ass every second. There's no TV and no privacy. You're there with people who might die any second; it's a real "make your time" experience. Sounds hellish but really most of the people in there are not exactly in any condition to disturb the other patients or to be disturbed themselves. The nurses are also much nicer. This, as you might imagine, is much more expensive than regular care.

If you believe that they admitted her and put her in the ICU with a central line, there's no way they're handwaving her concerns about sepsis, no matter what she says. And the whole, "surgeons respect other surgeons as artists and scholars," bullshit, if they think your leg is rotting off they're not going to give a fuck who the last person was to touch it, they're going to get in there.

This one might have the brass ring of suing a troon doctor in that the least fussy and controversial step in the process is the one they fucked up on. If she lives and has the wherewithal to sue.

You are supposed to care for your child and be their guidance, and not back off just because they are shrieking and being annoying af. If the internet is the problem, the parents need to start monitoring the kids internet usage, confiscate their devices, and stop paying for their phone. It's not like she's trying to dye her hair neon green, getting a piercing/tattoo, or some rather harmless stupid teenager shit. That, I can understand stepping back. I will try everything, get my kid sent back to the 3rd world country even, to prevent her from getting DM. I don't care if she hates me for a few years. How does it work with teens on parents insurance? If you’re 18 and so not a minor but you’re on the parents insurance. Can’t the adult deny the treatment? Frankly if that my kid is quite my job or take them off the insurance rather than have them use it to destroy themselves

Yeah this is what’s confusing me. You can pull a peripheral line out and wander off from ER quite easily but if you’re in ICU and if she does have a central line (I missed that) it’s not something you can detach easily or safely yourself. Nor would you be in any condition to just leave. ICU is for people who need intensive care, as the label says.

Usually I agree with this because otherwise youths just don't join a plan and it's a small add on cost for the parents. Also I usually (used to?) agree with people getting all the treatment their doctors recommend. ETA and if the parents become destitute, they and the kid become eligible for state-funded insurance so there's no escaping the tit-chop.

thank you for all for the advice and input! unfortunately discharge is best for me and to go to my surgeon myself. my transfer has already been denied by my insurance due to the plastic surgery team here having in their notes that my graft looks “fine” and “doesn’t need surgery” even though they are completely uneducated on bottom surgery AND grafts and had no right to speak on any of it or even be involved in my case so now the insurance thinks it’s not “life threatening” and “surgery related” so i will be discharging and doing what’s best for me since it seems this hospital unfortunately hasn’t
