nah, euro politicians in berlin and prais and brussels have been seething about their lack of control over american social media companies for many years now
this has been a long time in the making, much longer than musks meme takeover
Companies need to really tell Eurofag polits to go fuck themselves already "block" their site to IPs in that country and have the site just reroute to a video of how to use a VPN in whatever country's IP's native tongue is trying to reach them already.

They won't cause money, but they really should.

HAHAHAHA

npr.org - Twitter labels NPR's account as 'state-affiliated media,' which is untrue

:story:

When asked about Twitter's decision during the White House's daily briefing, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declined to address Twitter's content rules specifically. But she also defended NPR's journalism.

"There is no doubt of the independence of NPR journalists," Jean-Pierre said. "If you've ever been on the receiving end of their questions, you know this."

Either they´re missing the whole point or they're trying to deflect. Tweeter is not questioning NPR´s indy cred and ethics, it´s labeling it as a state sponsored media. Which ought to be the first thing to be settled.

(Which makes me think: is the P in NPR an artifact from the LBJ administration?)

Twitter labels NPR ‘state-affiliated media’ and the government-funded network squeals like a stuck pig

By Thomas Lifson

Elon Musk’s Twitter has provoked a spasm of media outrage by adding the works “state-affiliated media” to tweets coming from the main account of the indisputably federally-funded radio network.

To be sure, financially-beleaguered NPR receives lots of non-governmental funding, including donations from individuals and corporate advertising underwriting, but the organization misleadingly claims that “less than one percent” of its budged comes from the federal government in the form of grants. Whole this may be true, NPR charges its local affiliates, which receive federal, state, and even local funding in some instances, for the programing it provides, so that state funding is, in effect, laundered through these local stations.
NPR is very unhappy about this label. Its CEO, John Lansing, protested vigorously on Twitter:
Now if only Twitter do the same with the CBC in Canada, the BBC, etc...

I'm guessing that's why even though yeah it is pretty pathetic,
This is cope written so John Oliver wannabes can go "Ummm actuallyyyyy?" in that uptalky voice they all have. Its whole existence relies on the Corporation for Public Broadcasting which is almost entirely funded by Congress. It also leaves out the fact that affiliate stations get a solid chunk of CPB money which they then use to purchase licensing fees and content from NPR. Manipulative motte-and-bailey bullshit and NPR itself calls government money "essential" when it's more convenient to do so:

Lmao NPR shills squeeling there not state funded. Show off their graph which shows that it’s majority funded by wealthy democrats, which explains why NPR is so hardcore left and not reflective of real Americans political views.

That’s arguably worse that being state funded since the state would ask NPR to maybe stop pushing policies that hurt Americans in the long run and make the US look gay and weak.

the problem isn't even that it's state funded, it's that everyone involved is so obviously "on the same team" it doesn't even matter if it is state funded; yet they reee loudly (even as they publish articles saying that all news media should be publicly funded, lol)
(Which makes me think: is the P in NPR an artifact from the LBJ administration?)
probably, from what I understand a lot of the state-sponsored US media came about because muh television was going to rot everyone's brain, so they literally started sponsoring radio to keep it going. cold war shit is also involved as it usually is

It's funny seeing the journo class flipping out over this. A more accurate assessment would be the additional labeling of FOX, MSNBC and CNN as US government state-affiliated since all these "independent news organizations" are all in regular collaboration with the US government when it comes to what they cover and the narrative that they push. None of these big news media organizations are any more "free" than RT and are forced to tow the state department line and pump out political propaganda 24/7.

Kill journos. Behead journos. Roundhouse kick a journo into the concrete. Slam dunk a journo baby into the trashcan. Crucify filthy journos. Defecate in a journos food. Launch journos into the sun. Stir fry journos in a wok. Toss journos into active volcanoes. Urinate into a journos gas tank. Judo throw journos into a wood chipper. Twist journos heads off. Report journos to the IRS. Karate chop journos in half. Curb stomp pregnant journos. Trap journos in quicksand. Crush journos in the trash compactor. Liquefy journos in a vat of acid. Eat journos. Dissect journos. Exterminate journos in the gas chamber. Stomp journo skulls with steel toed boots. Cremate journos in the oven. Lobotomize journos. Mandatory abortions for journos. Grind journo fetuses in the garbage disposal. Drown journos in fried chicken grease. Vaporize journos with a ray gun. Kick old journos down the stairs. Feed journos to alligators. Slice journos with a katana.

But seriously, it's really funny watching them go "NOOOOOOO WE'RE NOT PROPAGANDA WE'RE NOT JUST SHILLS NOOOOOO"

…why ISN’T it on BBC? It is literally the definition of state-affiliated media.
BBC's public faces are split between entertainment, British news, and world news. Since Elon likes to poke the hive before he hauls off and punts it I'd expect to see them get tagged in the coming days or weeks next. They're probably having cor blimey fits over it already.

Social media companies are very amerocentric. You can't call someone a fag on instagram because they have content filters for that, a thriving and open Instagram slave market went unnoticed for years because they wrote in arabic though. In myanmar Facebook was used to organize their "ethnic cleansing" but the only hate these people know is the white supremacy boogeyman so the filters were only made for western languages and they completely missed what was going on over there...

What I'm saying is that they might not even know that BBC is state-affiliated media.

My point is like, NPR at least has SOME grounds to “um ackshually” it, but the BBC is LITERALLY, undeniably, state-funded and thus state-affiliated.

Niggas who listen to NPR sniff their own farts anyways
What's Elon's endgame with this? Lulz? Is he trying to own the feds despite them paying him?
