I've also noticed that some americans, at least valley girls who do twitch streaming all day and prostitute themselves for donations, are also becoming way less articulate as time goes on. "So like it was cold in the valley and like we were shivering and like there was no like food and like we were starved and like we were about to like die and like, like, like, like..." Emotions are also being described on twitter and TikTok with memes and pictures and clips from videos with loud noises rather than words. Sometimes people also describe situations in unintentionally disproportionate and hyperbolic ways that would otherwise be described as an annoyance or a minor inconvenience. Reddit and Discord in particular suffers from this most egregiously.
I'll give you a dramatized, but actual example I've seen in a discord #vent tab:
Here is how a normal, articulate person would write this:
"During the pandemic, in an effort to try to isolate myself from other people, I've been trying to take precautions to stay within the CDC's guidelines of six feet distance. Problem is, and I can't really blame everyone for this because many times talking through masks is difficult, many times, people will get in my space and many times I have to verbally tell them that I'm trying to keep distance. Many times they'll ask me when the next bus arrives or where places are on a street and it's making safety precautions very frustrating to adhere to. There will be economic ramifications, but I think we would be better off dealing with them in the long run because, while it takes a while, a broken economy can be fixed. So I personally think things need to be shut down so people aren't required to do things that make adhering to these guidelines difficult. It's not for solely my benefit, but it's because this disease is too catastrophic in the long term (there are long term symptoms you can look up on the CDC website) and life changing. It needs to be weakened with time."
...and this is how a discord tranny would write it:
Keep in mind, that is not my opinion on the pandemic, that's a more articulate re-creation of what this person said in a far more measured, calmer, and way less hyperbolic way than what she portrays in this post. The latter post that this person made, on the other hand, gives me the impression this person is foaming at the mouth and completely unhinged. Something she may or may not have intended.
The point is, we as a society are beginning to become less articulate and less literate as time goes on. People cannot describe their emotions, their nuanced topics, or their personal grievances without devolving into emotionally charged ramblings that sound schizophrenic and angry or using internet memes and internet catchphrases.
