Why though? Serious question, why was Yang your favorite?

I loved the shit out of her weapons and
I thought she was cool for being the relatively normal one of the group.

Then they kicked out vic and decided to make her a lesbo and I never looked back.

The show should have gone this hard way earlier. It would have had a lot more staying power if they had more balls to fuck with it's characters more.
I honestly thought that they were going that route after volume 3. It would have had to be after several characters get killed, Yang gets her arm cut off, and the team separates? Well I guess it would have been true in the hands of competent writers.

Fair enough. I always found her bland, Weiss was always my girl. I honestly liked Blake a lot too up until V4 happened.

Okay so...this season highlights one of the biggest problems I have had with RWBY for the longest time. And it's just impossible to ignore it at this point. It was a big problem in Season 4, and then again in Season 5, and it was awful in Season 7.

RWBY was a fun show back in Volumes 1 2 and 3. I get that. But they turned a show about being at school and fighting mindless monsters into an apocalyptic plot about destroying the world. The show has to be serious.

But RWBY constantly uses the humor from the first three seasons inside of these terrible situations. I know that sometimes you need a bit of levity to take the edge off, but Jaune and Ruby's attitudes here are too much of a contrast with the rest of the cast.

Now, I don't think Jaune or Ruby is wrong here. They have every right to be traumatized and hurt by the past. But the fact that they are makes the other girls look far worse by comparison. You can either have everyone upset and angry that they failed to save everyone, or you can have everyone push it aside and move on, focusing on the plot in front of them. If the latter happened, it would be par for the course on how TV shows work, the audience wouldn't question it.

But you cannot have it both ways. Jaune and Ruby can't be looking backwards, feeling like failures and wishing they could do something different, while Blake Weiss and Yang try to find a way out of the Everafter. That just makes Blake, Weiss and Yang look like sociopaths who are completely apathetic to how badly they fucked up and all the things they lost. In particular, it makes no fucking sense for Ruby to be more upset about this than Weiss, when the destruction of Atlas directly harms Weiss and her family. Yes, Weiss had a one-off line about having no home to go back to earlier in the season but it was nothing like this. If one person was going to ascend this season it definitely should have been Weiss. Ruby has everything. She has a sister. She has a father. She has friends all around her. Weiss's father is in jail, her sister was Ironwood's puppet and likely committed horrible actions in the name of the military that she will need to answer for, her mother is a drunk and her brother is a rat. And now her entire homeland has been destroyed and invaded while she watched on and did nothing.

I like the tone of the series for Jaune and Ruby but it should be the tone for the entire season, not just half of it while the rest of them act like nothing ever happened.

The only time I ever saw any of the actual show was a gif/video of Ruby(?) thinking about cookies. The animation was so stilted and awkward, the weebish attempt to be cute so forced, I was repulsed instantly and have been judging people for enjoying it ever since.

Those repurposed Miku models will never not be uncanny.

What do you think about this?

A. Who the fuck cares. Its 9 seasons into RWBY, a show that hasn't been anywhere close to even passable since season 3, and this show is not getting a season 10. At least not under RT.

B. Even if someone did care, if Ruby gets "cured" of her trauma by the end of the season then its rushed shitty "development" that has her EXACTLY BACK WHERE SHE STARTED!!! What will actually change about Ruby's character as a result of all this stupid filler nonsense??

My guess, abso-fucking-lutely nothing. Unless they do the smart thing and carry over her trauma and really show it actually changing her way of viewing things/actions. Its RT and Miles though, so no fucking way in hell is that happening. She is getting "cured" by talk no fucking jutsu with a mystical brain fart and will go back to being the same retard she has been for the last 8 seasons.

I really liked that one scene in season 4 with Jaune practicing in the woods at night with old Pyrrha recordings, but yeah, it’s been dripping in quality since season 3. Stuff getting dragged out, ways characters were written changed, ect. There’s still good bits and scenes here and there, but the distance between keeps widening.

I feel very ashamed of myself that I did watch season 1 and 2 of this series when it came out. Seeing how people talk how worse it got makes me kinda glad how I jumped it off early and curious to how bad it got, since s1 and 2 were so bland to start.
