Eva posted this pie chart in his chatroom. Thoughts?

Well guys, we have been beaten. He produced a totally legit™ pie graph.

I think with the charts and such he's possibly considering a blog post about how he spends his time. This picture might be a bit more evidence of that:

Here it seems like he's looking for other game projects to justify his development time.

Edit: Well someone beat me to posting that.

Sorry.

Yup, i'm sure he will make a blogpost saying "But Cave Story took 4 years to make and i work really hard so stop calling me lazy, i will finish the game eventually!"

But Alex will forget a few facts:
1- He never "created" anything. Every asset in the game is bought, stolen or made by other people.
2- It's been over 2 years and there is still nothing close to a legit playable demo. It's not even 1/10 of what it wants to be.
3- He barely works at all. Even in his idealistic piechart, he (hilariously) spends 5x more time talking to his volunteers than actually implementing what they give him.

Comparing himself to these developers is an offense and i hope nobody takes him seriously but knowing his fans...*sigh*

Patreon Update
At this point in time, I only have one other thing to mention:
Yandere Simulator’s development is supported by monetary donations on Patreon. I’ve always tried to do my best to make the Yandere Simulator development process as transparent as possible. However, I’ve recently heard some people claiming that I’m secretive about how the Patreon money is spent, or that I’m pocketing Patreon money that should be going to volunteers. To dispel those notions, I’ve written a lengthy post detailing what I do with the Patreon money. You can check it out here:

"Guys! I am not trying to save up for a life size animu sex doll! see? look at the math I did for the patreon bux!"

Long ass post time.

It's annoying how this game's idea could be fun and interesting, but the developer seems to stray further and further away from it...

I do have some respect for Eva in that he hasn't bought and resold a Unity asset store package unaltered on Steam. It's only minor mind you- he still made no content himself and uses stolen content.

1-

I'd love to see what he's capable of outside of code. Drawing skills, UI design, music creation, 3D modelling. I think some animations in-game are his , but he said they're placeholders and therefore are terrible. Who am I to doubt that?

In addition to bought / stolen / made by volunteers he admitted somewhere, I think in an early 4chan thread, that he's using the toon shader from Unity standard assets. Explains why the characters have no real lighting.

Anime shading is certainly possible, Guilty Gear Xrd looks incredible and stirred up lots of discussion from people actually thinking it was in 2D. IIRC they achieved the look by controlling how the light can shine on the model, using a map to control how easily an area is lit, by manipulating the normals (of faces or vertexes), and by animating at a lower framerate, plus a bunch of other tricks like painting the lighting directly onto the stage and giving each character their own unique source of lighting that animates alongside them to make the shading more expressive.

It would actually be really interesting to see this game really try to achieve a good anime look, but I don't think Eva is capable of writing shaders. As if he cares. I won't expect the anime styling in this game to actually resemble real 2D anime... If I hadn't found out the dev's real identity I'd have been shocked if the game hadn't gone all out and turned out looking great, but knowing Eva it's going to look just how it does now, and that's pretty sad.

Even if he did try, the style is difficult to do in 3D because the camera angle and position of objects and lighting aren't controlled by the artist at all times. NPCs will move themselves, the player has complete camera control. Also there's a higher framerate, which is why stuff like MMD never looks quite as authentic as animation drawn frame by frame. The trick is to take full control over all of those things, even when a player is able to affect it, which Eva definitely isn't going to do that.

Live2D looks promising, but it's money and effort for Eva to implement. It's a lot easier than doing a shitload of tricks and such to get everything looking decent, but it would require 2D assets for the heads and hair from all sides as opposed to 3D models.

2-

Clearly he needs more volunteers to finish faster. More assets is more game! I propose everyone in this thread applies. Skill doesn't matter, just send him MS Paint art. Assets are assets!

3-

If he spends that much time talking to volunteers it would actually be pretty funny if everyone here applied seriously and it jumped to 100% of his time being volunteers. A second e-mail video gets created, telling people not to volunteer. Watch as the game falls apart.

He's currently streaming work on the game. Anyone wanting to see his code, it's being shown a lot.

Edit: And getting mad at NPCs. "You're not a witness, you didn't fucking see anything, you dumb shit!". Exciting stuff.
I open the stream and he says barely anything but "cuck that duck". Over. And. Over.

0/10 would not watch again.
