Ukrainian Defensive War against the Russian Invasion - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

So does anyone know the full story on this leak? My impression is it was a retard being retarded for updoots on discord. But other people are saying he's a whistle-blower or some shit, and others that he wanted to help Russia.
If he was a whistleblower he'd have at least attempted to get the documents out publicly, either through the press, or at least something like /pol/ or Twitter etc rather than a private Discord.
Similarly if he wanted to do it to help Russia, he'd have done it publicly, or at least given them to one of the pro Russian twitter/telegram handles. Kinda curious why people think this was done to help Russia, and how it does. I mean if they showed numbers that meant the US thought Ukraine was losing or something then it would make sense, but showing they're actually doing okay, and disproving Russia's blatant lies about casualty numbers doesn't seem like they'd be that helpful to Russia imo.

From the standpoint of this thread, may I respectfully inquire if the leaked documents spell certain doom for the Ukraine? First time caller, long time listener. I'll take my response off the air. Buh-bye.
Personally I don't think they do. The non-shooped numbers line up fairly well with some of the OSINT estimates we've seen, which at least personally I've been basing most of my assumptions off of, given both Ukraine and Russia have every reason in the world to fudge numbers in their direction, and those numbers suggest Ukraine is doing okay all things considered.

depends on which version you think is true.
one says the russians are suffering 3 times more casualties than the ukrainians, the other says that the ukrainians are suffering 4 times more than the russians. both sides call the other sides version fake
and i don't think that burger officials are going to put out a statement about which version of their leaked top secret intel is the real one lol

Maybe I missed it in these past 6 pages of the thread, but is it illegal to even repost these documents now? You would figure someone would of objectively reported on the facts at this point. Regardless would be nice to read them myself at least...

Surprising nobody, Russian state media is quite happy with comrade Carlson. The propaganda aspect of the war, with the whole esoteric tankie/WN/right wing "alliance", all the hot takes and lunacy is absolutely mind-blowing to observe. The audacity with which everyone is engaged in lying and narrative construction is stunning.

The docs spell nothing and everyone sane has knew for many months that both armies are tired, depleted, but Russia has more people and resources, and Ukraine has better morale and Western support.
The thing is, if we are to discuss things with complete honesty based on the data we have or take more neutral positions, you can get threadbanned because of not being a full-on lunatic "supporter" of a part in a war that probably 99% of people in both sides want over, the only debate is over the HOW it should be over.
Yes, if the West abandons Ukraine, things will probably go to a guerilla partisan war instead and maybe complete occupation. If such a thing would happen, I would not be surprised to see Poland leave NATO or just enter the war without NATO consent, because allowing Russia to annex an entire nation inside Europe is intolerable to most of us.

  • The people don't have any will to fight
  • Taiwan is historically part of China anyway
  • The West will never risk getting involved
  • Taiwan may have superior numbers, but they're poorly equipped compared to the modern PLA
  • China will just mobilize if anything happens, they have a huge population anyway
  • China won't suffer economic damage, but the West will
Hmm... sounds familiar?
All you gotta add is “China is fighting the forces of the American Empire, and their victory will lead to a prosperous multipolar future” and I think you got everything.

Wow, there’s a gas generator on that, and a huge fuel tank. The mission time must be several hours. I would like to know the spec of those, how the video link is done etc.
The transmission bands used are close to 6G now, over many multiples of encrypted channels to beat jamming or spoofing (i.e. hijacking). They could also be semi-autonomous, not requiring human input & being programmed to follow another drone(s), along with GPS or other navigational/ranging systems; there's even the one I posted earlier ITT that has lidar & image recognition & can automatically target individual men & vehicles in a treeline. All that on a drone the size of a small trampoline, which is nutty.

But from what I gathered is these large gas-powered drones is they can lift an Asian off the ground fairly easily, and fly for at least an hour. There's also some experiments being done with open-sump 4-cycle motors, for more power & less sound; these have a small oil reservoir and no oil pan, with used oil being expelled through the crankcase or exhaust. It appears those are being developed for surveying/surveillance, not lifting; but could easily be used for dropping mortars.

Somewhere 4-5 years ago I have/had an image saved of a drone using a center-mounted old-school rotary engine, like a miniature LeRhone; the torque of the engine itself was countered by the rotors, and the thing spun 8 of them through a central gearbox/hub.

And then there's other gas-powered drones, like this:

Turns out the capabilities & market for these drones was far more developed commerically than I'd realized, since most of my autism is focused on small racing drones.

Anyone else remember that Australian man who fished from a drone back in oh... 2019?

If a bunch of guys in their backyard can pull that off, I'm sure the Taiwanese won't have any problems in 2023.

As for the war itself, the Russians are currently trading an elevator of the Bakhmut metro back and with Ukraine. Day 400 and the Russians can't take and hold a fucking elevator. I'd post up an image but the forums aren't letting me do that in this thread for whatever reason.

That's just a 2 cycle with extra steps.
Won't combustible fuel drones require yet another supply line for them given they really should use clean fuel?

Unless you're in the military (or so I gather) it's fine to spread the stuff that's already publicly available, which is not everything that's been uncovered. There is a collection of the leaked stuff here, on a 'respectable' defense subreddit:

Noise is obviously a big factor to be worth sacrificing 2 cycle power to weight ratio…. Total loss lubrication is a new one to me. Maybe they’re able to reuse the engine tech from fixed wing drones, those are down to a fine art.
I think I even see liquid cooling in that clip.

Right, these days you’re going to want electric driven props, so that flight controls can give it all the stability and manoeuvrability that we’re used to. Hybrid makes sense.

Interesting stuff, good to see what’s behind some of the precision tank bombing.. and why cope cages are a thing.

Timeframe of early spring counter giga offensive ensuring total vatnigger death and complete collapse of Moscow with Putin standing trial in Kiev for war crimes?
Please get off Twitter and read the news or something. Ukraine taking Moscow is about as realistic as Russia taking Lithuania.

Quite interesting to stare at, though the intel is somewhat out of date.

I was under the impression that linking to the documents (therefore hosted on a third party website outside Kiwi Farms) is fine. I recall a recent post (was it in this thread even?) that stated that Kiwis should NOT be posting them directly as images on the Farms (as this website is US-based and thus subject to the US' laws), least we get Dear Feeder into trouble.

On the commercial side of things, it seems they're looking for something that can hover over populated areas for long periods without people noticing, again for surveillance, inspection/surveying, or even traffic monitoring, and the four-strokes also have a longer flight time, while still being able to tote a decent size instrument/camera package

There's even some that use with alcohol fuel, which is a crossover from the scale model world; and it's only a matter of time before we see drones using turbines to drive the blades. There's some pretty amazing machining that goes into drone gearboxes & controls.

If I recall right, they use vegetable oil of some sort; and now I think on it, the micro-LeRhone drone was a definitely a hybrid, and it had electric motors for each rotor. I think it was super quiet & high-endurance, which was what the article focused on. I wish I'd been archiving things back then, goddamnit.

The bit about the JDAM-ERs failing(but not) is interesting. Its amazing how far we've come in ordinance reliability. Around 1/3 of shells in WWI were duds, iirc.
Its worse than I thought

. Accordingly, when the shell was fired from the gun, the pre-cocked detonator would be activated inside the barrel of the gun or, perhaps, within a few feet of emerging from the barrel; with catastrophic results for the gun-crew and anyone else in the vicinity. In 1916, during the First Battle of the Somme, these 'prematures', as they were called, occurred in around 1 out of every 1,000 shells fired. In some divisions during the Somme Offensive, 500 rounds were fired every 24 hours, thus, on average, one 'premature' was occurring every 2 days or so. The effect on the morale of the gunners of this macabre game of 'Russian Roulette' can be readily imagined. Also, it is not difficult to presume that some gun-crews took the initiative to reduce the frequency of these explosive incidents by inactivating or removing the fuse before loading the shell into the guns. After the war, in some sectors of the former Somme battlefield, there were reports of finding an unexploded shell every two or three paces. And these shells are still being unearthed in their hundreds today. Eventually, gun batteries using these fuses became openly known as 'suicide clubs' and an official investigation was urgently made to identify the source(s) of the defective fuses. The majority of the faulty fuses were tracked to a single manufacturer. Remedial action was quickly taken, and progressively, after The First Battle of Somme, the problem was resolved.

@mindlessobserver suggested that no documents should be locally archived, hence I've just linked to reddit posts and outside archives that show them. Given that they are all over normie places like reddit and twitter I think Null is safe, but I'm not locally archiving them anymore just in case. /r/CredibleDefense in particular initially banned posting links to the leaks because some mods would theoretically be going to jail by looking at the documents, but have since determined that outright posting of the leaks is ok for whatever reasons they internally decided.

Insert analogy a Grand Jury being able to indict a Ham Sandwhich; basically its best to not fuck around and give the hairy eye of the DoD anything to look at.
But the main point is that the documents are so far spread now they are practically public record. You can't have a SECRET-NO DISTRIBUTION notice on a billboard in Times Square and expect it to carry any weight.

In these cases, the public has no knowledge (and the authorities have limited leverage) on classified document handling/designations and "I am a complete retard and didn't know" is going to something they can't disprove; if you have a government clearance even if you're just reposting things you saw on Facebook they can fuck with you if they want (you knowledge and they have leverage). Where you MIGHT get into trouble is if the DoD sends you a take-down notice your ass better comply, but currently there seems to be an acceptance that the horse is well outside the barn at this point.
