Anime does shit to western audiences in general. I can’t really articulate it but Americans just take things and mold them to be a reflection of themselves. Like how CWC thought he was Sonichu. Many teenagers and young adults just mold their entire personality and life to be anime characters. (See the Final Fantasy House story for an example of what I’m getting at.)
Point is. I think anime is like THE gateway drug into this type of degenerate stuff. Believe it or not, normal Japanese people HATE otakus and shun them immediately for being freaks who lust after cartoon children. Because even they know the turbo autism/perverted/pedo shit is disgusting. Companies just market off of it because degenerate shit makes money.

Jen, the ringleader of the video you posted, has used other forms of media to form cults around, most notably tv show Hannibal. Jen herself didn't actually believe she was an anime character, and neither did the author of the FF House.
In fact, no one in the cult really did. Not even the craziest person aside from Jen, Aerith, who later went on to start her own failed cult, truly believed she was an anime character. It was just a way to grift, and people just went along with it because they were all dumb college kids from broken homes, and/or because the people in charge knew how to game the system.

I do that too, but my role models are guts and kenshiro, especially kenshiro. But even if I want to be like them and try to practice their positive attributes, I realise that they're fictional. The inability to separate fiction from reality is only partially the problem as what troons do is try to rationalize characters degenerate characteristics. Take astrolfo or any kawaii girl from any troony anime, they're weird characters and one should be able to realize they're weird characters even if they like them. Problem is when troons like something weird they start rationalising and coping mentally that their weird fetish nonsense is good or normal cause they don't want to be different. Eventually troons do that rationalization process enough that they're way too deep in to realize that they're in a rabbithole and can't get out, leading to their troonification and sexual degeneracy.

The Romans were already into degenerate shit before anime exist.
Everyone with 2 braincells can separate fiction from reality, those without will turn even the most wholesome thing into degenerate stuffs. Anime is just the easy scapegoat to point to.
These people have more internal problems that causes them to take the additional step into insanity compared to the average person. This is not to say degenerate anime doesn't play a part, but it sure ain't the main catalyst.
