took these when I was in Australia. My phone sucks at taking pics at night, but the bird on the left way cooler without the flash.
The cockatoos are wild there, and will eat French fries out of your hand.

So I got a chicken. She was a nice chicken, and she really liked to come out of her coop for a few hours to scratch for bugs. But one night she didn’t come home. A week passed, and I accepted that she was gone, which was my fault for letting her out. So I got a replacement chicken, and some chicken treats to supplement chicken 2.0’s protein needs since I was going to keep chicken 2.0 safe in her coop and run. Another week goes by, and I return from work and see a chicken roosting next to my front door. It’s the first chicken, home from whatever two week adventure she went on. She let me pick her up and put her in her roosting box, seemed a little tired but none the worse for wear. Now I have two chickens.

I'm sincerely happy for you both in how that turned out. That was a tense read until the last bit.

A nice cardinal family has moved in with three eggs.
And she's mad as hell.

When birbs nest at/near my place, I like to set out a cleaned sour cream lid or something so I can set out live waxworms, live mealworms, fruit bits and birdseed for them every so often. A pair of house sparrow parents were highly unamused when I added some shaved broccoli buds to their banana and peanut butter mush. They still took it, they just picked out all of the broccoli and wiped it onto the ridge of the lid.

> buy a chicken to defeat the egg-price-gouging-Jew
> lose chicken
> acquire second chicken
> first chicken comes back
> doubled food needs
> need to buy a dozen eggs about 6 times since acquiring chickens anyway
> finally receive egg
> profit

I killed a bat once. I didn't want to but the little nigger was flying around and squeaking and shit dude I don't know what a bat could do. Some guy got bit by a bat and got rabies. So I hit it with a tennis racket.

I know bats aren't birds but that is my bird story and I feel bad for doing it.

Big hen protip: they're very touchy to change. They just need some time to adjust, and then they'll be fine.

Congrats on getting your first chickens!

before you talk too much about that in minecraft check your local laws, depending on your region bats can be hella protected to the point you can't even shoo them out of holes in your roof certain times of the year

The Cardinals in my lawn have hatched! Their parents are fucking stupid though, in a cute way.

The other night, we heard the dad chirping to distract a neighborhood cat from the nest. Except he was standing over the nest, so he was just drawing attention to it. My husband eventually shooed the cat away.

Yesterday, I saw the mom in my back lawn. And I guess she saw me though the window, because she didn't leave as long as she was able to see me. I know she just didn't want to lead me back to her nest, but bitch calm down. I'm just doing dishes.

Bird tax from reddit of a capercaillie fucking a guy's head lol
