There's two kinds of people benefitting on the short-term from hookup culture: vast majority of women and a select percentage of high-value men. The high-valueness is based on physical characteristics only, most importantly face and height (race too, pajeets and other nonwhites are at a massive disadvantage, but let's pretend we're in a fully white society).

The genetic fitness means jack shit in this case, you'll find men will literally have sex with down-syndrome landwhales because the genetic fitness of the woman doesn't matter. Men don't have to go through the painful process of childbirth, so the most effective strategy is to spread your genetic code out to as many women as you possibly can.

This is the base human nature because we're extremely sexually dymorphic species. Women by default are born on the dead center of the bell curve (most of them are 100 IQ midwits) while men are born on the extreme ends (many retards, many gifted men). (It's called the Variability Hypothesis) Essentially this is our species way of evolving, have women as the base and males are like throwing shit on the wall hoping some of it sticks (and it works). I do agree that hook-up culture is bad, but there's more going on in a woman's head than "Me want high quality sperm" or in a man's brain than "Me want child to continue bloodline". I mean that is part of the mating process but so is learning to love your spousr and providing for them and the family you formed together. The reason why hookup culture is bad goes past the basic bitch evolutionary argument (which works for humans in general broad strokes but breaks down due to humans having intentionality, sentience and sapience on the specific level) and since it's only really a recent thing, you would imagine that the seperation of sex from reproduction in the public conciousness and shit like birth control, elective abortions for all, the reduction of actual pair bonding between men and women, no-fault divorce and the like is a more rational and less spergy reason why hookup culture even exists.

The majority of those things have existed in some form since the late 1800s/early 1900s , before there was even any real form of hookup culture. It usually takes time for rot to set in when it comes to cultural tendencies. It doesn't just happen overnight. Most of the work regarding birth control and abortion was done by groups like Planned Parenting and other eugenics type groups in the early 1900s in response to both eugenics and to the first wave of feminism. All the rest of what I listed happened throughout the 20th century. You really are historically illiterate if you think hookup culture just up and appeared with no previous iterations out of the blue.

Yeah, but most people have the ability to introspect and at least moderately judge why they want to do something. We're not fucking automata that can't do that. You overestimate the effect of all these subconscious mental subsystems on our everyday life and thought process and underestimate the effect of the subsystems of the brain devoted towards rational thought. Plus, the science of how all of this even works isn't exactly settled, so how can you some up with a theory of how the subconcious mind works if a good deal of its inner workings aren't known to us at the moment? It's better to just assume what we know and work from that and what we know are very basic facts about how humans pair-bond to find romantic mates. It's not very scientific nor even rational to work from a point of what we barely understand in terms of modern neuroscience. The brain is a very complex system that has many, many subsystems that interact in a complex and quite convoluted manner, to the point of many (if not most) of them still remaining unknown as of the writing of this post. To be that reductionistic to its inner mechanisms regarding any aspect of it's workings (but in this case, in terms of finding a mate) is a bit silly and unscientific.
