At the Aldi in my town, most of the carts were immediately handed off to new customers or left outside of the paddock; so it was a rare thing to need a quarter for cart deposit. The only time Aldi employees policed up the carts is at the end of the day.

But lately that's changed as two individuals have taken up residence nearby; they helpfully intercept & return every buggy that leaves the store or is left outside the paddock, and Aldi let's them do it (or more likely the local cops don't care). They probably make enough from quarters alone to get their meth fix, so now people take their quarters back, rather than let the riffraff have it.

The nearby Aldi to me doesn't have that problem but it's just off a local main road on the edge of Old Suburbs, and country lanes so it's all local shoppers, but the Big Tesco is a fucking nightmare for random trollys just getting blown all over by the coastal winds at random and they just slam into your car - they have one guy collecting them per shift, when he's not using a trolley he's using a crutch for support to walk around.

They also have a special needs guy who plays as a air traffic controller all day between the hours of 7am and 5pm Monday through Friday and brings his own packed lunch every day but friday where he has a pie an chips in the Tesco cafe, he apparently get's the first bus in of a morning and then walks home, harmless and during covid spent his own money on masks and gave them out to people (despite what you think of coivd a special needs guy spending his own money on some to give them to people he thinks needs them was nice), the staff an cabbies like him and the regulars like him he's harmless and tries to help and doesnt bother people, hell the cabbies try an give him a free lift home but he refuses and likes to walk back home.

Also this place has seaguls and as @Otterly will agree should be fucking exterminated, and they had to put up a hue set of nets around the door to stop the fucking gulls dive bombing people and there shopping.
