So if someone did falsely set up a crypto account in his name, and it works that way, do you think they would be able to use the Gemini wallet to pay for swattings? Without needing his photo idea or other info? Sorry I'm somehow ignorant on the topic of crypto. But this point seems really important.If it's like Coinbase or Kraken or most other exchanges, that's not true. You can create an account without verification, but just can't do anything remotely useful with it until it's verified. Some of them will let you deposit crypto and use it as a purely crypto exchange, but if you want to interact with the U.S. banking system, AML/KYC kicks in and you must verify with photo ID (and sometimes more).
