Working on my Predator machete sheath -
low profile dangler mounting setup along with 4-snap keeper for the belt attachment. There is no other way this huge knife can be mounted (sideways, under the shoulder, etc) it is simply too long. It could only be mounted as a drop down from the belt with thigh strap, backpack or back draw and I prefer belt mounting my knives and machetes. The heavy duty D-Ring can also be used as an anchor point for backpack mount. I wanted to get as close to the black leather sheath the Jack Crain movie version had while also doing my own thing.

This machete will not be a part of the other stuff, it will instead be a part of an All-Black rig with 2 1/4" wide duty belt with a custom buckle instead of my standard favorite 2" wide. A hopefully great "jungle rig" (despite being made out of leather... >.<) It will look sort of military but also sort of commando, just like the style of gear in the movie this knife came from.

Also, I found out what leatherworkers use to get their leather so shiny - Resolene!

P.S. marks on the backside toward the tip of the sheath are for a double loop/anchor point for the thigh-strap hooks to link into. This piece is super heavy and needs an additional anchor point around the thigh pretty bad. Either way, it was like that in the movie, so. My version will have two hooks on each end of a strap that will link into a looped leather strip riveted to that spot.

Looks a bit rough now but will polish all of that out in the end as well as make all the edges of the sheath straight. Once I attach and rivet both halves I will drum-level all edges and then refinish them. And of course you won't see those ugly welt tops either. I chose to leave the sheath plain with no tooling because I liked the natural grain on this particular cow's hide...it looks like elephant leather with all that natural crackling and patterning lmao
