I don't know what you're referring to, but as far as I know, we're (All Caps Comics) crowdfunding to raise $100K to cover costs, including to rent a space in a hotel in Orlando. We have two convention organizers who do big shows in NJ that have volunteered to put it together. I put it on hold because I've got too much work to do, and my books are late. But I think we'll be able to do it.
That's understandable. Biggons' five years of CG Con bluster wasn't really worth knowing about.
The "convention" idea is dumb. It also plays to the worst impulses of the worst attendees. Just have the genuine artists (they don't have any writers) have a time for signing and selling, and maybe some tables off to the side for the day with crap to sell, and have luau, BBQ, or similar. Make it child friendly up to a point and if Anna the fat slob wants to dress up in her latest costume store rental let her, if she can even be bothered showing up.
Yes but that's also dumb. The genuine artists can go to real conventions like SDCC where there are 150,000 attendees as well as other conventions nationwide. This is why a lot of the 'genuine artists' were furious at Gabe Eltaeb's 'fite me irl' with Mark Brooks risking Comicgaters banned from conventions nationwide. There they can make far more money there than what's to be made from the, as you say, paltry 500 people possibly interested in going to CG Con. There's no real money to be made. Frog seems to agree, what with setting a target crowdfund goal of $100K to make sure the travel expenses of 'prestigious CG royalty' like Andy Smith and Dan Lawlis are carried wholly by the
peasants backers. That works out to an attendance fee of something like $200 per head on top of travel and hotel to hang out with some extremely marginal figures. Giving $200 worth of satisfaction to 500 people over a weekend is a tall order, even for the likes of Sheila Aliens.
Nobody familiar with conventions or who gives a fuck about comics is going to think this is a worthwhile use of their time and money. Only someone who's goal it is to do mescaline with Patrick Thomas Parnell until he seizures out so they can make a move on the
other CG Ballers hotwife or settle scores is going to want to go to this thing. Therefore the event
should cater to insane people. It's the only way CG Con could even possibly work. Have Frog do a backer tier where you get to take a photo on Uncle E's lap as he tells you he's proud of you. Gather outside at midnight to burn Smiller effigies. Set up a Nasser dunk tank. Invite Matt Bahr. Go all out man. It's only going to happen once so might as well make it memorable.
In other news:
Frog
responded to a tweet by Dan Slott that mentioned Comicsgate as he was blind iteming a surly fan. He accuses Dan Slott of being fat and secretly based. But what has gone unnoticed is the actual substance of Slott's tweet:
The latest development in Spider-Man is Marvel editorial's response to fan outcry to undo
One More Day, the infamous event where Spider-Man made a bargain with Satan to 'trade his marriage' with Mary Jane Watson to save Aunt May's life. It's been
fifteen years and fans still want it undone. Marvel has heard the outcry and has responded.
The current storyline right now is about how Spider-Man's mindwiped wife and his wife's boyfriend got sucked into a pocket dimension where time passed faster within compared to the outside world. A hyperbolic cuck chamber if you will, where Mary Jane can be banged, bred and cuckold Spider-Man with some other guy at a super-accelerated speed not normally achievable within the laws of physics. Thus, in only a few months Mary Jane now is the mother of two children and Pete is
not da father. Sorry Spidey-fans, the marriage isn't ever coming back. It is enough for the most liberal, pozzed current year Spider-Man reading soyman to apparently start actively a-logging Marvel editors and calling for blood like a 2015 Comicsgater, much to Dan Slott's disapproval.
Frog snapped into action with two videos,
one showcasing what he's eating for lunch (Frog's diet is the main topic of discussion within CG these days) and the other
efapping old home movies. Good to know that Tim Pool bump's going to good use.
