Yeah the living in motels problem is particularly bad in red states with very little protections for low-income renters or public housing. Especially right now with the current affordable housing crisis going on and poor people getting thrown out of their homes left and right by predatory investors&property management companies looking to gentrify or turn them into airb&bs or w/e.

I heard one of the high schools near me, for example, has over 100 students living in motels. Meanwhile apartment complexes are sitting mostly vacant b/c no one can afford what the property managers are trying to charge. It's a crisis.

I can't imagine it's any better in Arkansas since that's one of the few states that's usually even worse than mine at pretty much anything related to quality of life/social issues/etc.

Yeah Kim isn't the same as a poor family on hard times doing what they have to do to survive. It's appalling Aiden is allowed to live with her and I hope I'm wrong and CPS actually gets off their asses to remove him.

I hate to think what's going to happen if Aiden is still with Kim and Dalton when they inevitably run out of money for the motel. Doubt even then Kim will do the right thing and go to a homeless women&children shelter (about the only type of homeless shelter around in shithole red states).

It’s almost painful to witness. Any local “what’s happening in City, State” Facebook group is packed full of people offering and soliciting services. And this retard posts on his personal page knowing all his peers are as broke as he is. A page or two ago he was looking for people who needed burnt trailers cleared, which I thought was such an oddly specific shot in the dark. Almost like he’s trying to appear as if he’s looking for work but he just can’t find any. I wonder if Kim’s dad is putting his foot down, not many hard working people would tolerate a grown man laying around playing house and shitting up the place while they’re at work all day.

Those day labor places are always accepting people because they get a cut of your check. It wouldn’t be the worst place to start if I were a man with a useless wife and a special needs kid to provide for, but what do I know. People with actual work ethic that come from day labor companies get snatched up by construction companies all the time, and that’s enough money to completely turn their lives around. I’ve seen guys start at $10 and end up with 6 figure salaries in a matter of 2 or 3 years. All they did was follow directions and put their back into it. The learned helplessness is so gross.

Those day labor places are often steady work too. A friend of mine worked full time most of the time with the day labor stuff. A lot of it was just demolition/clean up and hard physical work but it was something. No drug tests, no worries about criminal background.
